Protecting your Crown Chakra.

Getting into mountain biking can break your bank, but don't let it break your cranium, too. The Kali Protectives Chakra Solo Helmet is here to provide you with protection without a painful price tag. It's built similarly to other helmets in the Chakra line, with Composite Fusion technology wrapping around your head and an integrated liner to wick away sweat. Using in-mold construction, the Chakra's low-density EPS foam is bonded to a lightweight, polycarbonate shell, allowing it to shed weight and tip the scale at a miniscule 292-grams.

The in-mold technology helps this helmet pass CPSC safety standards, while 21 large vents, what Kali refers to as an Airflow System, channel cooling air for comfort during summer months. An adjustable chin strap keeps the Chakra in place, and a breakaway visor helps ensure safety in a crash. For easy cleaning, the wicking interior pads are removable for washing, so you don't have to ride with the old grime against your scalp all summer long.

Uncomfortable

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This helmet is a perfect example of why it's a pain to buy things like helmets, shoes, etc., without being able to try them on first. It's a nice-looking, seemingly well-built helmet, but for me it was very uncomfortable in two areas (1) the strap design is bad, as they seem to get in the way and are awkward to get right before putting it on, and (2) once it was on there were two ridges in the top rear of the helmet that dug into my head. Maybe I've just got a weirdly-shaped noggin, but Giro offers comparable helmets at similar prices that are MUCH more comfortable. And they're available in enough stores locally that I can try them before I buy them. I'll be sticking with those from now on. Now I get to pay another $6.99 in return shipping for the privilege of getting to try on a helmet that I would have immediately rejected if I was at a physical store. Not a great policy, Backcountry--I'm not going to be buying any other "wearables" from your site. Not worth the inconvenience and "trying on surcharge."
