    Hit the high notes.

If Seth Morrison puts his name on something, you know that it can charge. Exhibit A: the K2 Pinnacle 118 Ski. As you'd expect, it loves to go big, fast, and hard, but it's built to be versatile and surprisingly fun, so it's not a one-dimensional straightline charger that needs a legend like Seth to make it go.

The heart of the Pinnacle is the K2 Konic core, which is at the heart of the ski's uniqueness. At the center of the core, K2 employed a superlight composite material called Nanolite, which keeps the weight of the Pinnacle down while it increases nimbleness and agility. K2 followed that up by slapping sections of stiff ash and fir around the center of the core, which gives the ski a hard-charging and aggressive feel without the deadness that a metal laminate can cause. Indeed, the Pinnacle's totally metal-free, with only a highly energetic triaxial braided fiberglass laminate proving extra stiffness and energy to rip you through aggressive turns on pow and through chunder.

At 118mm underfoot, the Pinnacle's pretty obviously a soft-snow ski, and a glance at the Powder Rocker profile will confirm its preferences. Powder Rocker employs a generous amount of rise in the tip and tail to help you surf through powder and slash big ol' hero turns when going sideways is on the menu, but has enough camber underfoot that you can rally through choppy runouts and down groomers without losing control. Hybritech half-cap construction features sidewalls underfoot for edge bite and stiffness, with a cap in the tip and tail to decrease swing weight and keep the Pinnacle nimble, because even Seth has to shimmy his way through tight spots sometimes.

    K2 Pinnacle 118 - 184

I have skied the last 2-3 years on the K2 Seth Morrison Side Seth -118 - 186, the best ski I have ever owned. When it came time to replace it, I hoped the Pinnacle 118 would be similar. I was not disappointed. Although it does not have quite as large a rear rocker as the Side Seth, it shares its stability and power in all conditions: powder, corn, crud and hard pack, while seeming just a little bit lighter in weight. In short, this is an all mountain winner, equally at home in the back country and the resort. I remain ever optimistic that K2 will continue to produce skis after the conclusion of the corporate reconfiguration that has been publicized!

Such amazing technology and design. More forgiving, versatile, and lighter than my old SideSeths, without decreasing high speed charging abilities and dampness. It can ski pow, groomers, crud, ice, moguls even. The rocker profile allows it to be thrown sideways, pivoted, buttered, and stalled. This could be the best ski I have ever been on. Daily driver in the PNW. I understand why they don't use metal in the ski. More pop and natural flex. 191cm mounted at +1cm with Look pivot 18 and Salomon ghost 130 boots. 6'2 180lbs. Many thanks!

        Pinnacle 118 rocks!

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Skied all conditions in the ski area and has all the attributes to shine in and out of bounds. Good snap and only a slight rock in the tail makes you finish the turn like a real ski. The tip performs even in harder conditions. As a ski guide it performed fantastic in the untracked and plowed through the variable.

        Nice powder ski

These are nice, relatively stiff powder skis. Great for carving powerful turns in Utah Powder. Durable and nice looking as well.
