They say that if you try to please everybody you’ll end up pleasing nobody, but Juliana’s Joplin Carbon CC 29 X01 Complete Mountain Bike blows that specious bit of conventional wisdom out of the water. Now, we suppose that the Joplin isn’t built to please everybody—DH rippers, dirt jumpers, and bike-park junkies should probably look elsewhere—but if you like to cover serious distance, pedal up, and bomb back down, this do-it-all rig is right in your wheelhouse.

If you called the Joplin a Santa Cruz Tallboy that’s been optimized for lighter riders, you’d be about right. It features the same Flip Chip technology that lets you switch between rocket-powered 29in and super-plush 27.5+ wheels, has the same buttery smooth VPP suspension (which was originally cribbed from the enduro-legend Nomad), and is built from the same top-shelf CC carbon fiber. The shock has been specially tuned so lighter riders can make full use of its 4.5in of plush travel, and the Reverb Stealth dropper post is sized to serve riders who might be closer to five feet than six. The wide Boost axles keep the back end stiff for unparalleled control at speed and through hairy trail furniture, too, so you’ll be as stable as a table when you’re pushing the speed limit on the way up and down.
