Julbo Aerolite Photochromic Zebra Sunglasses
great for mountain/road biking & running
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. These Julbo Aerolite Photochromatic Zebra sunglasses feel like nothing when you have them on. I have a thinner oval shaped face, and they fit perfectly, don't give me headaches or press into my temples, and they stay in place with no issues when going down rutted singletrack or descending at high speeds. I just wore them for a week of mountain biking in Soquel-Demo forest outside Santa Cruz, and I never had to consider the light changes since the lens was so on-point with adapting. The lens lightens enough to wear in the dense forest without inhibiting your vision, but effectively adapts plenty to wear in bright sunlight midday as soon as you're exposed. Great all day glasses, and I think they'd be good at the velodrome under bright lights (ours is outdoors) as well. Very impressed.
The lack of rim on the top of the lenses make it easy to see when your head is in different positions (descending, looking over your shoulder, etc).
The frame is very flexible, seems durable, though I am careful to keep it in the case when not using it- they are extremely lightweight.
I've never had any fogging while wearing them. They sit just right off your face and no issues touching my eyebrows/forehead.
I have the white/blue grey/ zebra light version of the Julbo Aerolite Photochromatic sunglasses and they looked exactly as expected. Better, honestly, because I'm so used to sport sunglasses that are awkwardly big. Two thumbs up!
Used for Boston Marathon
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I bought these as a gift for my dad right before he ran the Boston Marathon. He had this to share:
I'm impressed with their lightweight, snug fit and they look good. I accidentally stepped on them the night before my race and the lens popped out and I was pleasantly surprised to see that it popped back into place like nothing happened! The only negative is that they are a bit loose behind my ears because I have a relatively small head size.
