    Float away.

A legendary powder deck, the Jones Hovercraft Snowboard is named for providing unbelievable float across the deepest snow on the planet. Think powder slashes in Hokkaido, bottomless turns in Colorado, and dreamy snowscapes in Switzerland for the Hovercraft's preferred terrain. However, don't be fooled be fooled by this seemingly single-minded pow surfer. The Hovercraft slices through crud and holds an edge across hardpack with razor-sharp precision, courtesy of Mellow Magne-Traction edges, camber underfoot, and a responsive flex pattern.

Responsible for much of the board's float, the tapered swallowtail shape naturally drops the rear end in powder, with the gigantic nose hovering across the snow without sinking. Directional Rocker places responsive camber underfoot for carving aggressively across hardpack when high pressure blocks storms for weeks at a time. For those days when the snow gods bless your local mountain, the lengthened nose rocker keeps you from sinking, while a subtle tail rocker releases the back end for smooth slashes without hanging up.

New for this season, Spoon 4.0 upturns the base edges of the nose and tail in a 3D, spoon-like shape. This spoon-shaped base contour redirects snow around the front of the board, preventing it from plowing for a smoother sensation when you're riding powder and carving up corduroy. Maximizing your velocity, the concave Speed Channel tail releases loose snow for a burst of speed upon exiting each turn. Ultimately, the Spoon 4.0 base contour enhances turning fluidity while maximizing float for a more effortless ride.

The reviews are true! This board rocks. Effortless in powder and forgiving on the groomers. Took it to White Pass after something like 38" in 36 hours and completely changed my outlook on deep pow days. You won't be disappointed.

I'm 6'3" and I bought the 160. It feels smaller in terms of nimbleness but floats like a much bigger board.

    Ridiculously good

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This board does it all. We've had some really deep and dense days in CA and this thing just dominates sierra cement. So much float, super nimble in trees (the 156 whips around like my 151 twin), and it still does great in packed powder, ice, groomers, you name it.

I bought this as a pow quiver board, but now it's the 95 percent solution. Oh and it looks good too, so there you have it.

    Easily the best!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I saw this board a few years ago and it spoke to me. I imagined that if I were to design a board, it would be this. The shape, the set back stance, the clean bamboo aesthetic. The hovercraft is a work of art.

Long story short, I bought a hovercraft for the powder days and I end up riding it on almost all of the days. The sensation of hovercrafting on powder is definitely something to experience, but of course most days are not powder days. So what I have come to truly appreciate is how much fun it is on groomers. It is happier riding directionally than switch, but I'm sure you could figure that one out.

And also, much like Harleys or VW beetles, it seems to have a certain cult following. It is the only board I have ever ridden where other hovercrafters will see me on it and want to take a few runs together.

    Few Rides, Lots of Pow

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've only been on this board a hand full of time but I've been cutting throw all the powder like if I had a hot knife on my feet. The cut on it makes me feel like I'm on a rocket flying down the mountain. I love going on pow hunts and just bombing down the main runs.

    Surprised and Converted

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I was avoiding fully directional boards because of some old-school pride about riding switch. I love my YES. Pick Your Line/PYL in powder, and this is another board that will elevate your riding. The Hovercraft provides as much fun as I've ever had in deep snow. The nose really is impossible to sink and/or catch, meaning you'll ride more confidently in tight trees, down pillows and drops, and in all fresh snow situations. It's even fun on side hits and groomers, as long as you're not trying to ride switch. (How often do you ride switch in powder anyway? It's worth the trade-off.) Give it a run and try to muffle your outbursts of pure joy.

    Oh Baby - The Hovercraft

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'll never part ways with my first Jones Hovercraft....even once shes seen her last day of riding. Her and I have had some great days at the resort. Some deep days. Some tired days. Some rough ones too.

But my love for the board aside, the float in the deep powder and the handling on hard pack is a combo that you just can't easily find in other "powder" specific boards out there. The big fat shovel nose on this with the right amount of rocker and now the Spoon geometry is just bad ass.
