Higher 30L R.A.S. Backpack

Add some extra security when you're traveling through avalanche prone terrain with the Jones Higher 30L R.A.S. Pack. It accommodates Mammut's Removable Airbag System 3.0 (sold separately), which can be deployed in a slide to keep you from being buried while reducing blunt force trauma from being carried under an avalanche. It also has plenty of space for your collapsible shovel and probe, as well as everything else you need for a day in the backcountry.

Obviously, the safest policy is to avoid avalanches altogether, but unexpected things happen, and when they do, the R.A.S. can inflate within three seconds to keep you on the surface, instead of being sucked down beneath avalanche debris. Just pull the shoulder-mounted deployment handle to inflate the bag, and the padded waist belt, safety leg strap, and sternum strap will keep the pack securely attached to you, even in the turmoil of a slide. After deployment, deflate the bag and pack it back up according to instructions, and remember that the compressed air canister needs to be replaced. You can even remove the airbag system entirely if you want a lightweight in-bounds pack, or swap it between all R.A.S. packs to fine-tune your carrying capacity.

Vertical carry straps come in handy for steep bootpacks where carrying your board is especially cumbersome and the A-frame ski carry straps hold your split in touring mode. Back panel access allows you to quickly access gear in case of emergency while avy tool slots keep your rescue gear organized, with separate slots for a collapsible shovel and probe. Also, there's an insulated hydration sleeve for on-the-move drinking without the tube freezing solid.
