Built for the most demanding lines on Earth.
If you're looking to get into the backcountry to take mellow pow runs and carve lazy turns, this isn't what you want. However, if you use your split as dedicated equipment for accessing remote lines that require absolute focus and pinpoint precision, the Jones Carbon Solution Splitboard is arguably the highest performance split you can strap to your feet. It takes everything that's made the regular Solution a legend, and makes it more aggressive. The carbon fiber construction sheds weight, while increasing the stiffness and damping, turning this into a turbo-charged beast that devours the gnarliest lines you'll ever step to.
The carbon fiber topsheet and carbon stringers keep the weight down, while providing a stiffer, damper, more responsive ride. The carbon fiber topsheet looks like it belongs in a race car, which would be a surprisingly accurate way to think of the Carbon Solution's handling. It's not designed to be forgiving-- instead, hold the throttle wide open and drive it like your life's on the line. Naturally, the weight reduction pays dividends on the skin track as well. Camber between the feet keeps the Solution planted at mach speed, and there's slightly more rocker in the nose than the tail, for unreal float, without sacrificing the ability to ride switch.
Mellow Magne-Traction places bumps along the edge, for insane edgehold on windblown, exposed lines, while the blunted nose keeps swing weight down for quicker turns. Triple-density wood creates an ultralight and incredibly strong core, and the sintered base is extra-absorbent for long-lasting speed and tough for durability. Unlike traditional clips, the included Karakoram board clips actively pull both halves of the board together, which means less chatter and better response.

Weight specs are FALSE for the 164
I have a 2014 solution, and a 2014 carbon solution to compare.
Jones had confirmed to the shop on the phone that the 2015 carbon solution 164 is 500 grams lighter than the 2014 carbon solution 164, a MAJOR selling point, and a flat out lie!
Of course, the first thing I did was compare weights of last years carbon 164 to this year's 2015 carbon 164.
190 grams lighter only Brand new, no wax. Lighter, yes, but it felt almost the same right away, and made me highly doubt that it was lighter than last year's deck.
2014 Jones carbon solution 164: 3510 grams, or 7.73 #'s
2015 Jones carbon soluton 164: 3320 grams, or 7.3 #'s
190 grams, or .43 #'s lighter only, NOT 500 grams, or 1.1 pounds lighter as advertised.
Not cool with such an expensive deck (or any deck or other equipment that always weighs more than claimed as well).
I love the last years 2014 deck for being an ice handler and a do it all backcountry mountaineering deck although I did find it a little bit heavy.
The whole point in buying the 2015 solution if you already have the 2014 is ONLY if the weight specs were in fact accurate.
I have never given 1 star, but I am utterly dis-appointed. Even respectfully so, since I love this deck, and gave it 5 stars last year.
But come on, Jones snowboards! you could have told us 200 grams lighter, and I wouldn't be bummed to have it come out to be only 10 grams difference, but 310 grams could not possibly be anything but an intentional exaggeration to sell this deck. Is
Jones Solution/Carbon Solution 2015
158 is 6 lbs 1 once. 161 6lbs 3oz. Those were all the weights I could find for this board. The carbon jones boards are stiffer and not necessarily lighter.
Best review of splitboards I've found.
Yeah, that's what I was looking for, the elusive weight specs. I had heard 300 grams lighter than the 2014 deck, and I had heard 500 grams. I did just confirm that the 164 is 500 grams lighter (according the the rep). I'll be buying the 164 and the 161, but I was waiting for the sales (no snow anyway in the Sierra Nevadas!). I've been riding the older carbon and non-carbon decks, and they are just a bit heavy. DEFINITELY check out the new Prime system by Karakoram. They finally fixed everything that was to gripe about, and I can't wait to try those! But yeah, I was originally thinking the carbon is lighter than the non-carbon, but it is only a stiffness difference, not weight! The carbon is HELLA stiff!
