Hole driller. Mile killer.
The Traverse 10 Kayak builds upon Jackson Kayak's popular Karma series to deliver a highly versatile river runner that does great on traditional class II-IV sections, but also readily steps up to longer multi-day adventures. Out of the box, this boat is suited for beginners and intermediates who want a stable craft for everyday paddling, but it's also an excellent pick for the advanced paddler that wants a nimble ride on an extended mission. And because it's extra stable, the Traverse is perfect for beginners who are learning to roll or taking their first strokes on steeper water.
But the Traverse 10 refuses to be defined in simplistic terms, and through external add-ons, it readily transforms into a rough-and-ready expedition kayak that will do well in the mountain miles of the Salmon or the flatwater stretches of the Colorado or Green Rivers. The retractable skeg is great for pounding out long miles of vista-loaded serenity, because runs like the GC are often 95% boredom—and 5% sheer terror.
The Traverse also comes standard with a sizable stern hatch for dry-gear storage, and by upgrading to Jackson Kayak's Hard Hat hatch cover, you'll be able to add extra support and durability to your stern compartment and guarantee it can withstand all of the unexpected consequences of a brutal encounter with the river. But we all love customizing our boats for overnights and longer expeditions, which is why the Traverse's built-in Yakattack rails are an awesome feature that add capacity to rig up an angling rod, GPS, fish scanner, or any other gadgetry you can think of.
