Stomp XL Pedals

From chunky DH laps to pedal-fest trail days, the iSSi Stomp XL Pedals are ready for riders who want massive pedal contact for support all over the mountain. They start out with rugged extruded, 3D machined aluminum for durability, that's anodized and sandblasted to give them a boost in style, and a sleek matte finish. Eleven pins hold your rubber to the platform on each side with serious grip, and an aggressive 2-millimeter concave design helps keep you completely secure when you put down your weight and let your shoes flex into the pedal. The traction pins are flip-able, so you can run with with 5.4 or 4.5-millimeters of length to lock into your tread. A large pedaling platform makes these ideal for riders with larger feet who want to charge hard, offering you a massive 120 x 112.5-millimeter stamp to smash down on when you're cooking it into a lofty gap jump, or hammering up switchbacks.

  • Beefy pedals for getting aggro on the mountain
  • Huge 120 x 112.5 platform gives control for big feet
  • Lock your tread in with 11 adjustable pins on each side
  • Concave design allows flex of your shoe and secures in place
  • Extruded 3D machined aluminum stands up to trail abuse

Great Pedal and Company

True to size

These are on par with the best flats I've ever ridden. They've been tough, they look good, they come in a lot of colors, what's not to like? That's usually not enough to make me write a review though. More importantly, I had to reach out to iSSi for some help with an unrelated parts issue recently and they went out of their way to make my life easy for no good reason other than I've purchased a few of their products. I don't write many reviews but, I figure it is the least I can do given the time and effort they saved me amounts to much more than the time I spent writing this up. Based on my experience, you'll probably get a really high quality pedal you like a lot. More importantly though, if you did happen to have an issue, which seems pretty unlikely, they'd probably bend over backwards to make it right. Asking for anything more seems greedy so, I'd call that 5 stars.

Stomp it!

I've used it several times

It wasn't that long ago that all flat pedals were basically created equal. Thankfully with the use of sticky rubber on shoes flat pedals have become more widespread, and there are more options than ever. Issi offers this pedal in two sizes, which makes sense when you consider nearly every other component on our bikes is available in multiple sizes to fit riders needs. I wear a US 10.0 shoe and find these to be plenty big, in fact I'd probably find them too big if my foot was much smaller. A pack of replaceable pins is included in the box for when you inevitably have a rock strike.

They do the Trick

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I don't always ride with flats. But when I do, I prefer ISSI Stomp XL's. I pretty much only ride clip-less these days but it's always nice to have a quality pair of flat pedals around for when you want to mess around without riding clipped in. I'll mainly be using these for wheelie practice and such. They feel like a quality pedal and offer incredible grip under my size 11.5 feet. And the color matches my bike perfectly.

Pump track perfection

I've used it several times

Grabbed a pair of these to take down to the pump track with my 11 year old. I normally don't run flats, but these were awesome for where I was and what I was doing. Grip was really good and the size of the platform was perfect. I'm not making these my everyday pedal, but for the occasional day at the pump track, I can't recommend these highly enough.

Pleasantly Surprised

I've used it several times

I was hesitant to try these pedals out after trying Issi's clipless pedals a few years back and finding the quality lacking, but I was pleasantly surprised. Grip is really good due to the tall pins (you can change the length) and the concave middle is more defined than other flat pedals I've tried. It's awesome to have 2 sizes available - I tried the Small which work fine for my size 9.5 shoes but are a little narrower than I'm used to, these XL will be plenty big. Weight is a little high compared to other pedals like these but hopefully that means they'll be extra durable. I'm curious to see how the finish and bearings stand up long term. Lastly, price is higher than the Stamp 3 but less than Deity, about the same as the thinner OneUp pedals. If durability (and serviceability) is good I'd say it's a fair price.

More Stomp than a musical

I've put it through the wringer

With our market constantly producing different varieties of platform pedals, I think it's important to note that not every pedal is actually a GOOD pedal. The Stomp by Issi is a fresh personality in a constant sea of white noise. I've now used them with two different shoes. One from Giro, and one from Five Ten. Neither shoe has an issue with grip the entire time. Not only this, but coming out of winter and sloppy riding conditions, I should note that the pedal body itself sheds mud fantastically. When compared side by side with counterparts of the industry, I have no issues stating that this pedal really holds its own against the competition. If you're on the fence about the performance, or how you think it may perform, just go for it. You won't be disappointed!
