Flash III Pedal

Ready for anything, the iSSi Flash III Pedal is built tough for days spinning singletrack laps in the mountains, yet still comfortable enough for all-day road rides around town. Its do-everything, minimalist design starts with accepting SPD-compatible cleats so you're able to use the same shoes for outdoor cycling as you are for your spin class. Then, the adjustable spring tension system allows you to start at a lower tension for easy exit and then gradually increase the tension as your skill set increases for more security on more demanding outings. As hinted to by its title, the Flash III's triple-bearing construction offers you the smoothest rotation possible and the best feeling interface between pedal and rider. This combination of precision spindle machining and high-quality cartridge bearings grants years of high performance and minimal maintenance.

  • Triple-bearing clipless pedal ready for rides of all types
  • Adjustable spring tension meets your level of riding
  • SPD-compatible cleats transition from spin class to the road
  • Triple-bearing construction brings you an insanely smooth rotation

Surprised and Impressed

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I really like these pedals, and wasn't expecting it. I've ridden XT and XTR pedals for years, but decided to give something else a try. These pedals look good, but perform even better. I really like how smooth they rotate, and how solid they feel. The only downside is that they are a little heavier, but for the performance and price point, I think that they are a fantastic alternative to the other big brands.

I have been using these clips for about a month and I have really liked them. They really are cool with the different colors you can. Would recommend to buy!

Actually Impressed

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

First of all, I am a Shimano SPD loyalist, every time I have tried another type of MTB clip in pedal system- I have been disappointed. I gave these a shot and so far I am liking them. They clip in and out with a nice feel, they handle mud well, and the unique color options are a great way to add personality to your bike. I am hoping they will handle rock bangs as well as my trusty SPD- but- so far so good!

Bringing Color to The Clipless Game.

Long have the clipless boys waited to bring some color to their rides. Issi finally gives you that option, if you aren't all about that flat pedal life. These aren't all about looks though. They get you solid performance, and offer different spindle lengths for a wider more stable riding stance. The only thing that holds me back from 5 stars is they are a little heavier than other similar options

Lots of Options

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I love all the colors and options on this pedal! I ended up going for the black with the +6mm spindle length. I'm a bigger dude at 6'4" 200+ lbs and I've always wanted to try out an increased stance width and this is the easiest way to do just that. I felt so much more aligned over the pedals and felt like I could put out more power with less pain, which is always a huge plus. The adjustable spring tension is a nice touch as well! Overall, they seem like they're well made and will last a long time.

Sweet!

I am riding these on my Juliana Joplin and I have been very happy with them. They are lighter than the old trail pedals that I was using and the bearings feel smooth. Would buy again!

Pretty cool

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Next time you're at a trailhead/startline, take a survey of the pedals in use. Of the folks who are clipped in, I'd be willing to bet that a majority are using some flavor of Shimano's SPD system. The remainder will mostly be using Eggbeaters, and you might even see some folks riding Look or Time. At the end of the day, Shimano rules the roost for pedals, and they do a great job, so the bar is set pretty high. My take on the iSSi pedals is pretty simple. They're great. They feel well-made, and the color choices are cool, but I'd have a hard time buying these over XT for the same price. Shimano's offering feels more polished, more bombproof, and generally better-executed. That said, Shimano only comes in your favorite color if your favorite color is silver, so I can get behind an aesteically-motived decision to pick up a set!

Style, Durability, and Affordable

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I'm going to start with the obvious, These pedals turn heads, the first time I saw them they caught my eye and I had to check them out! I love that there are different color options, I decided to choose orange pedals to match the color of my bike! They are also quite durable, I haven't had any issues with the paint coming off, clipping in or out, or any creaking/unusual sounds. I will say that the pedals felt a little stiff at the start but as you use them, they will get easier over time. There is also some adjustability for you to tighten or loosen to your preference. These pedals do work SPD cleats, so if you already have cleats on your shoes there is no need to change them out! Speaking of SPD The Flash III only weigh about 30 grams more than XTR SPD pedals, for about 75$ less! Issi also has replacement spindles for all models with different spindle options as well! These would make an awesome gift for anyone (especially NICA racers) I Dig It!

Your Bike. Your Style.

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I have to admit that coming into use of these pedals I was a bit skeptical. We have so many fantastic options in the industry, that I wondered if iSSi would really have anything unique to offer us. I'll be the first to admit that I was wrong. Upon initial impression they've hit the nail on the head. The wide array of color options, the packaging, and the fact that it's a simplistic design, anyone can use it. But when you dive into the details is really where I began to become impressed. I noticed that the threads on the spindle weren't burred, or ran the risk of messing up my cranks. The pedal body itself packs a punch with spring tension, which is adjustable to suit the needs of most anyone looking to get access to a clipless pedal, without needing to separate their femur trying to get out of it. So far the durability has been great. I've slapped them on my cross bike and not only has the paint been surprisingly durable, but the cleats haven't worn thin either. All in all, I would give the Flash III a great rating. It's a solid pedal for anyone looking to have a nice platform without emptying their wallet to continue to afford our sport.

Very nice product a little hard to clip in but might be because they are new...
