Outdoor Midweight Mini-Crew NuWool Sock

Slip into the Injinji Outdoor Midweight Mini-Crew Socks before you embark on a strenuous, all day hike. This midweight sock uses a combination of Nuwool (Australian Merino), nylon, and lycra for moisture-wicking performance, natural odor resistance, and a bit of stretch. The sock's anatomical toe sleeves have an anti-blister membrane that eliminates skin-on-skin friction for long-lasting comfort, and its arch support gives you a secure and stable fit when you're traversing over technical, rocky trails.

Soft & comfortable, but poor durability

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

The Injinji Midweight Mini-Crew NuWool sock is soft and comfortable, and the oatmeal color goes well with brown trail shoes. However, after only two months a large hole developed under the ball of my foot. I wore the socks about 15 times for a total of about 125 miles of walking. By design these socks are thick under the heel and the arch, but get thinner under the ball of foot through the toes. If you strike with the forefoot you are walking on a lightweight sock. The same issue exists with the polyester version, but those socks last three times longer. I recently purchased the Injinji Ultra-Run midweight socks with thicker padding through the entire foot in hopes of better durability. Still, I had much higher expectations for these NuWool midweight socks. There are three dollar toe socks that last longer.

Almost perfect.

So These are a great quality sock. I've had mine for about a year and have done many hike, winter runs, and winter cycling in them and they really help to resolve issues with blisters in between the toes. It does take some getting used to have a little mini sock for each toe.. after a few wears you start to love them though! the thing I don't like is if your feet have any moisture on them at all trying to get the individual toes in the correct holes is a pain in the but. Make sure your feet are completely dry other wise expect to spend some time trying to get your socks on.

I really enjoy the crew-length version of this sock so I tried the mini-crew for times when I want a shorter sock, such as when wearing shorts. The crew length sock is in my opinion the best outdoor sock Injinji has made and this is exactly what it says it is: a short version of that sock. Great feel, moisture-wicking wool, and a nice neutral look that makes it usable both for outdoor and everyday use.
