Love the I9 Stems!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I got a new bike that needed a 50mm stem and this Orange colored I9 - 318 stem was on sale. I would of bought it off sale anyway. They just fit so well, look so good and have the best polished edges and thick anodized finish around! Light too! I've got a 40mm on another bike and it's bullet proof after 2 years of hard riding.

Top notch American craftsmanship ...

Familiarity:

It's Industry Nine, so expect something strong, well engineered and beautiful. Granted, it's a bit pricey and there are other cheaper stems that will just just as good a job, but I always choose to support small American businesses whenever I can. In a way, this stem is fancy bike bling, but it's also of the highest quality and will probably last you a lifetime.

Well designed and manufactured. Fit is perfect and it?s plenty stout. It looks amazing. No complaints about it.

I bought the 30 mm stem in black, to reduce reach compared to a 50 mm stock stem. It's a great stem on all performance fronts. It looks great (which is obviously subjective); it's both blocky and curved, and looks like there's no material that isn't needed. The text and decals are simple, and less in-your-face than many other stems. As is to be expected, it is sturdy; it's 30 mm long after all. I didn't have any flex from the longer stem either, and I haven't noticed any difference in vibration or chatter between the two lengths. The steering feels great: fast and responsive, but not twitchy on this bike. The most noticeable change is the 20 mm reach reduction, which is exactly what I wanted. I'm slightly more upright now , but I can still weight the front if needed, which it is... the local climbs are very steep. So it's a great product, but it is expensive. I don't have the experience to comment on whether it is better than the similarly sized $100 stems out there.
