NewRun BUGrip GTX Running Shoe

Treadmills are for quitters, and it'll take more than a little bit (or even a lot) of snow to send you indoors. Keep stomping through your favorite pavement playgrounds with the Icebug NewRun BUGrip GTX Running Shoe. It's a road-running shoe designed with durable weather protection and serious traction, ensuring that you can keep running the way you want to when winter does its worst. The always-reliable Gore-Tex technology shields your feet when you're pounding through snow and slush, so your feet can stay dry and happy when they'd otherwise be soaked and cold. Speaking of your feet, Icebug decided to give this shoe a wider fit to avoid any extra discomfort that might be caused by having a narrow fit in frigid conditions. You've also got a cushioned EVA midsole and comfy Ortholite footbed providing soft support for long runs and hard training sessions.

Because it's an Icebug and because it's made for winter, you can bet this shoe has a ton of traction for your jaunts down snowpacked streets and icy sidewalks. The outsole is made with grippy rubber, and features 17 carbide steel studs that really dig into ice and snow to ensure that you won't slip out when you're trying to pick up the pace. These studs are also low profile enough that they won't interfere with your stride when you're transitioning from packed snow to exposed pavement. Plus, it's got a BOA dial closure that doesn't slip or slide out of places like laces might when they're wet, meaning your fit will stay comfortable and secure no matter how sloppy you get in winter conditions.

BOA, Spikes, and GTX

Took these shoes out for a 15-miler in the snow/ice and they did everything I wanted and more! The BOA system makes it super easy to adjust feeling locked in when it gets icier. The spikes on the bottom provided great traction on icy parts. The GORETEX did what it does best at keeping moisture out while allowing my feet to breathe. Fit-wise, the toe box is roomy which is important to me in any running shoe. My heels also felt locked in and secure. Overall I'm very happy with the product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable winter running shoe.

We live in the mountains and run outside year round. My previous Icebugs (Anima) have been great for many years. The insoles were getting a bit stiff, so thought I'd replace with the NewRuns. Pros: - warm! - roomy toebox as others have mentioned Cons: - not enough tread to complement the studs. When running in snow, I actually slipped around because studs weren't enough to deal with a snow layer on the surface. I never slipped in the Animas, which had decent, road friendly, 5mmish lugs. These don't have sufficient lugs. - BOA lacing feels poorly executed on this shoe. Couldn't get the shoe tight around the ankle, which isn't helpful when you're slipping around in the first place. - Pretty firm midsole material (though you may not view this as a con)

Love them!

These are great. Just what I hoped for. Grip on ice (even black ice), packed snow, and pavement is solid. I don't have to slow down because I'm worried about the surface or can't really see the surface, because they grip all winter surfaces. They do make noise on pavement but I got used to that. I normally wear women's 11 and the men's 9.5 fit. The IceBug NewRun has more room for my toes compared to the Icebug Rover, so I'm keeping the NewRun. If you run in ice & snow, you will love these.
