The alpine essential.
Bundle up in the Icebreaker Hyperia hooded jacket for Men when the wind gets going and you start to see scattered flurries drift across the trail this fall. The perfect lightweight technical jacket, the Hyperia pairs DWR water resistant nylon shell with Merino wool insulation for the perfect packable warmth you need when you're on the approach to new climbing spot, or stuck belaying in shady cove with an icy draft. Merino wool uses its natural fibers to wick away sweat, dry quickly, and fight odors, so you'll feel fresh from the start to end of your day, and it stays warm even when wet, in the off chance that the jacket's DWR coating doesn't hold up to a storm. Throw it in the washer when it gets a bit too filthy to pass for another day, and pack it into its internal pocket when you need to bring it with you in your pack or duffel for an around the world trip.

This is a great jacket! The merino wool insulation is quite warm and will maintain it's warmth even when wet. I ordered a medium and it fit true to size.
Would highly recommend!
Pros of Down without the Cons
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
This is a great fall or light layering piece. It has plenty of loft to trap air and keep you warm but it will not lose its ability to insulate when wet. This is a great jacket for AM starts as it provides plenty of warmth but also packs incredibly well with its internal pocket. The hood is not too large but not too small. I probably won't be wearing it under any helmets but it doesn't get in my way when I am looking around.
All in all, this jacket is perfect for everything from travel to layering and I can't recommend it enough.
I am usually a medium in Arc'teryx (5'8 150 lbs) but the Small in this fits me perfectly.
