    Angelic comfort.

The Icebreaker Women's Helix Jacket delivers heavenly warmth throughout winter, whether you're at the resort or downtown. MerinoLoft insulation makes this jacket Icebreaker's warmest midlayer. It stays warm when wet, which would be hard to do because the recycled polyester shell has a water-resistant treatment to shed snowflakes. Icebreaker added merino wool, Lycra-blended side panels for stretchy mobility and extra comfort. This slim-fitting jacket slides under hardshells with ease, and thumbholes secure the sleeves so they don't creep up your arms.

    Fantastic Spring Jacket

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: S
    • Height: 5'5"
    • Weight: 115lbs

    I absolutely love this jacket.

I see from the other reviews that it's been used as a mid-layer. I haven't tried that yet. I've been using mine as an outer layer now that the weather is warmish but still with clouds/rain/cold wind on many days and really just not warm enough to go without a jacket. And it's really perfect. It's accompanied me to the gym, to various classes in the city, hiking, walking the dog, etc.... I even took it on a recent trip to Europe where the weather was expected to be really dicey and we were going to be outside a lot. I ended up using it every day.

I wouldn't call it waterproof but it's definitely water resistant and it kept me dry on a quick dog walk in light rain.

The small is a perfect size for layering with sweaters and what not. Even with just a tank underneath, it still looks good. Not big and bulky. Actually very nicely streamlined.

It has thumb loops which I totally love. My hands get cold really fast, especially if there's a cool breeze and the thumb loops are just enough to keep them warm without getting too hot or having to carry gloves around.

The jacket is longish at the back. Hits me just below the butt as you can see from the picture. And it has more of a shirt hem than a jacket hem so it's shorter in front. The jacket is cut fitted so it doesn't need a drawstring at the bottom and it doesn't have the blouse-y kind of look at the bottom.

Note that it doesn't have a hood even though it looks like it from my photo. I happened to be wearing an Icebreaker hoodie in the same color.

    Fantastic Spring Jacket

    Awesome mid-layer

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

Great jacket! It's a perfect mid-layer for skiing and a wonderful jacket for snowshoeing. Very breathable and lightweight. There's a stretchy material on the sides and the wrists of the jacket which is super comfortable and you can move every which way without it riding up. Highly recommended!

    Found the Perfect Midlayer

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 130lbs

The quest for the perfect midlayer came from anaerobic, pushy snow singletrack Fat Bike days in the Colorado Mtns where sweaty cold descents confirmed that my micro down layer wasn't the answer. I went out on a limb with the Helix purchase and after a week - 5 Fat riding days and a romp above tree-line in RMNP I can without a doubt call this my perfect midlayer. Even on a 25 degree evening, snowy trail side hanging out with a pinch flat watching the sun fall I was perfectly temp regulated with one merino thin base, the Helix and a cycling shell. I'm short torso 130lb 5'8" with a 34bust and the small is perfect.
