A midweight merino layer for chilly winter days.

Icebreaker uses magnificent merino wool in its Men's BodyFit 260 Tech Zip-Neck Top to keep you unbelievably comfortable whether you're on the skin track or cruising the groomers at the resort. Merino wool regulates your body temperature so you stay warm and cool when you need to. Not to mention, it's naturally antimicrobial so it won't stink up to high heaven when you can't do laundry between ski days. The Tech features a zip neck collar which allows you to dump excess body heat, while the offset seams are designed as such that they prevent chafing and hot spot. And, a drop-tail hem offers added coverage and consequently more warmth.

    Love This Base Layer

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'7"

This is a great base layer. This is one of the warmest ones on the market right now.
Thumb loops in the wrist prevent it from moving up the arm when putting on gloves.
The sleeves are longer reaching the back of the hands as well.
I have gone a couple weeks at a time not washing it and it still smells great!
No binding under the arms and moves with the body really well.
Washing is very particular to not damage the item. READ the instructions. Merino can be tricky

    Great Layer

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 185lbs

I have used this in a lot of different situations- snowshoeing, day hiking, rock climbing, camping and last week as a midweight base layer climbing WY's highest Peak, Gannett. It is great. Fit is good and it is long where you want it to be. Only issue is somewhere a long the line I got a small snag in it but it seems to be holding together fine.

    Great Layer

    Sized down for perfect fit

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 155lbs

Previously bought Medium based on sizing chart but was too loose - definitely for running. Bought Small which fits perfectly for 41" chest even with extra t-shirt underneath. Sleeve length also just right.

Zip neck collar rides higher than I prefer but zips up comfortably snug. No zipper protector at the top of the neck line, however, seems to be the case for most of the other brands with zip neck collar. Will have to see if this is annoying or chafes when I go snowboarding.

I would have bought another 260 Pursuit zip-neck top which was a mock t-neck. This style doesn't seem to be available any longer and I wasn't sure which of the other Icebreaker styles was similar.

which I expect to be so if it's like my 2016 Pursuit

Bought as a gift, now im buying more...

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

My brother in law swears by these things and says he will never wear anything else again. I got them for him for christmas last year and I have received some feedback.

"Dude, these are F#$%ing awesome can you get me like 2 more sets of the tops and the bottoms?"

He's and outdoorsy dude, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling in pretty low temps in eastern Washington. He loved them.

I am an awesome brother in law because of these.

    Great fit and feel !!

I am 6'3" 200 lbs and just bought the XL blue largo sweater and the fit is awesome , so often i buy sweaters online and end up returning them because the arms are too short or some other annoying tall guy fit problem , but this sweater fit is spot on. The feel is so comfortable i might just 5 more , big ups to makers of this sweater and THANKS !!!

      Comfortable and warm midlayer

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size

I've taken this out on one trip now. It was comfortable and warm, with handy thumb holes to protect your hands. This would be a nice top for sleeping in on cooler nights.

I did find that it was heavier than I expected, but I don't know if it's any heavier than other woven tops of the same warmth.

      Love it.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Yet another Icebreaker product that I love. Perfect fit first time!

I would say this runs true to size. Very well made and very warm and comfortable.

      Great midweight

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this shirt. Used it as base layer, wearing under my sidewinder sv for skiing in temps ranging from 27-mid 30s with 25 mph winds. It breathes well and wore it 2 days straight w/o any funky smell. I ski hot so, this was perfect. Know will be my primarily skiing base layer. The zip neck is perfect for when I got a little warm.

I'm 5'4, 125lbs, 34D chest with broad shoulders, long arms, short waisted and narrow hips/butt. Although it was a little long, it fit perfectly under my jacket and could easily tuck into my bibs w/o it riding up. Definitely going to get another one.

      Size down

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs large

Unlike the Icebreaker crew that I also bought, the zip-neck top runs large i.e. around the torso. I would have sized down had I tried this before buying.

      Icebreaker Infatuation

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Decided to purchase these after having less-than-spectacular experiences with polyester-based undergarments, and I have been truly satisfied with manner in which they have performed.

I've only been able to take them out into truly algid weather a couple times, so I cannot speak to their ability to keep you warm in conditions broaching the 'teens, or below zero. However, when wearing this upper, an IB BodyFit 260 Apex Legging, and a Marmot softshell pant and jacket, I hiked around and played in the snow comfortably when temperatures were dipping as low as the +20s without experiencing anything remotely resembling disagreeable cold, body-wise.

The sewn-in thumb holes are a definite plus, and the fact that it is a semi-turtle neck when totally zipped up is also a major positive factor in my view.

Important to note, this upper is more of an athletic fit, so it runs more slim at the waist, while the chest is designed to have a little bit of stretch for those of you who don't want to size up and deal with a baggy, saggy merino midriff - what would be the point of getting a baselayer if it didn't hug you, anyways? (e.g. according to the IB sizing chart, I should be a Medium (measurements are ~ 29in Waist, 38.5in chest), but I received it and immediately returned it the next day. The Small fits splendidly).

All in all, a great top. I would caution against wearing any merino base layer without something over top of it if going on a backpacking trip, though. At least in my experience, merino typically cannot withstand the abuse a backpack's straps and pads may put on the fabric while against your skin. Other than that, great piece of underwear. I recommend entirely.

*Oh, an additional note, if you are going to be dashing in and out of town for a multi-day/-week trip, make sure you have ample time to let this garment air-dry. Do NOT put it in a dryer or you risk major shrinkage.*

Breaking The Ice While Staying Classy

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

I'm now smitten with merino as a base layer material. It makes me wonder why I used cotton in the first place and who better to go to than Icebreaker with the BodyFit 260 Tech Zip-Neck Top.

The mid-weight amount of insulation was very adept at keeping me regulated temperature wise even at a high rate of work. Also, the Merino quality is BOMBER and no feelings of pilling here at all. The fit is slightly on the athletic side, but with my build (5'11" 185, slightly wider shoulders and narrower waist) the large size fit pretty well. The thumb holes are a big plus as their location is near perfect and I also did enjoy the style of the colors.

A few things to mention though. The material blend, while it didn't chafe much at all, had a tiny bit of scratchiness to it and while I was okay someone with super sensitive skin might at least want to wash it a few times before extensive wearing. I'm also not a super big tall turtleneck individual and it does ride a bit high and tight on the neck.

An overall pretty good winter type baselayer for those peeps out there who love the stylish turtleneck types with functionality.
