We'll wager that after you wear the Men's Zepher Sport Top, you'll find the merino wool fabric so comfortable that you'll feel driven to donate your synthetic layers to charity. This is the warmest baselayer top made by Ibex, but that doesn't mean that you'll suffer if you start to work up a sweat. Ibex engineers outfitted this top with a zip-neck opening so you can vent away excess heat, and they articulated the fit of the Zepher Top so you can move freely—this is an athletic wool baselayer at its finest.

  • Zque New Zealand merino wool feels buttery-smooth to the touch and, at 230g/m², this is Ibex's heaviest weight baselayer fabric
  • Interlock stitching is a simple double-knit stitch that gives the merino fabric a slight stretch and natural ability to retain its shape
  • Merino wool is naturally breathable, it regulates your body temperature, and it has natural antimicrobial properties that fight off odor-causing bacteria
  • Semi-fit cut keeps this top close to your body for warmth but leaves enough room underneath for an ultralight layer
  • Seams sit flat against your skin in order to eliminate chafing
  • Wide sleeve cuffs leave room for your wrists to move, and the cuffs include thumbholes that keep the sleeves of this top in place
  • Item #IBX0427

great investment

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Yup, Ibex layers cost a ton, but they work better than any synthetic, they last longer, and they don't stink (as much). I've had my two Zephyr tops for several seasons now, hundreds of days in them.

I find the Zephyr layers to be much warmer than they look. I use them as my only base layer under a shell when ski touring down to about 25deg below freezing. I stay warm and dry on the skin up, and just add a puff mid-layer for the ski down.

Minimalist's Dream

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

I tried to pare my life down to the bare essentials, and this is my only sweater. I wear it on dates, out to the bar, on backpacking trips, on bike tours, and to sleep in the winter. It's a beautiful sweater, looks very sharp, and is showing zero wear after near-constant use for a little while. I am very enamored.

Sizing was close-fitting, but I am wearing a Large and i'm 6'1" and 170lbs. I can fit a dress shirt underneath with a baselayer. It is a tight-fitting garment, though, no question.

the best

Had 2 for about 8 years now and they show no wear. Always what I wear skiing or even walking the dogs before sunrise. Temperature regulation must be experienced to be believed, never hot or cold, just right whether on the ski lift or in the lodge comfortable and stylish. Ibex is denser wool than I've found from any other company.
