Make every day a new adventure.

One day you're hiking, the next you're climbing, and then hopefully you'll manage to squeeze a quick backpacking trip in over the weekend. Or, maybe your week is more work-oriented with brief stints between the climbing gym, yoga studio, and trails near your home. No matter what adventure comes your way, the Ibex Women's Woolies 1 Racerback Tank Top is your constant companion. Merino wool wraps your core with temperature regulated control so you cool down when you work up a sweat and warm up when you chill out on the top of mountains. It's also naturally antimicrobial, meaning it stays fresh throughout your backpacking trip or under your workwear in winter. The form fit eliminates any bulk when you add layers over this top, and its racerback design allows the freedom of movement you need to pull past technical cruxes.

5 years ago I bought this for my wife. It was one of her first everyday Merino wool items and has been worn regularly ever since. We just replaced it because the wool has started to stretch out.

Perfect for layering, or on its own

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love Ibex to begin with, amazing merino wool products. The Woolies 1 tank is an awesome addition to the wardrobe. You can wear it on its own on warmer days or layer it for skiing, hiking, or mountain biking. It's breathable and wicks moisture.

    I'll be wearing all summer

I bought this tank to wear for hiking, yoga, running, and pretty much anything else I end up doing this summer, and so far it's exactly what I wanted. I've never owned a 100% merino piece before, usually I've just bought merino blends, and I'm enjoying the slightly thicker fabric and its softness. I expected this to run a bit small like the Patagonia merino base layers I have, but it actually fits pretty true to size, if not slightly large. I've heard great things about Ibex as a brand, and so far they're absolutely living up to their reputation. Compared to similarly priced base layers, this is a great deal, especially if you're looking for 100% merino.

I suppose you could call my search for a base layer tank top a quest, an odyssey, a wild goose chase.

Previously, due perhaps to budget or ignorance, I'd always stuck with synthetic base layers. Most of the time going with whatever fell out of my friend's suitcases when they passed through town.

I went for it last spring and invested in several wool pieces, all from Ibex. I say 'invested' as they have all really stood the test of time and use, and abuse. I wore this tank as my base layer during a month-long bikepacking trip this summer, as well as for warm weather (and cold) running.

It's been perfect beneath thin layers as a shoulder season piece. I usually pair it with the Ibex Indie Hoodie, beneath a fleece or down vest if it's colder.

I have a relatively average-to-short-torso, and this tank fits me really well. I previously had trouble finding base layers that would be short enough for comfort beneath bib shorts for riding and also long enough to wear with running shorts or leggings. This tank suits every purpose splendidly.

The wool breathes so so well and does not retain odor at all, allowing for many (many) back to back to back days of toasty wear, without scaring the locals (too badly).

My one point of contention with this otherwise incredible piece is its lack of stretch/rebound. It can stretch out a bit after taking on and off. Not too badly, but it is noticeable in comparison to base layers with more of a blend with a synthetic fiber.

I'm 5'6", 140, 32D, and the medium fits really well as a base layer

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

I used this on a summer backpacking trip, and while it was great for a bit, ultimately I ended up with a hole after maybe two or three wears.

Also, I don't know if it runs small, but it's definitely on the shorter side

    Wardrobe Staple!

Let me just tell you that I own three colors of this racerback tank, and am looking forward to adding more! This Merino piece is a staple in my wardrobe, and is the first tank I grab in my drawer! It's a base layer piece, so if you want it to fit a little looser, I recommend going up a size then you normally wear. It's very soft, very comfortable in cool and warm temps. LOVE them!
