    Not your grandpa's itchy long-johns.

Forget synthetics; your grandpa knew wool was best and you'll agree once you pull on the Ibex Shak T-Neck Jersey. Dense-knit soft merino sheds water, snow and wind, breathes well and resists odors, making it the ultimate performance midlayer. A deep 11-inch zip gives you some extra ventilation for days when you're working up a sweat on the slopes.

The Best Fabric In a Great Design

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small

I have two of these Jerseys: one 10-year old Medium and one 9-year old Large. The Medium fits snug on my 5'8", 42" chest body, while the Large can be worn as either a second layer with room, or as a stand alone shirt. (I have issues with the 'athletic' fit as so many companies size their garments now, with medium a bit small and large a bit big, and my between size body trapped in between.)

I just got back from a week in Crested Butte, where Shak products (I have many varied garments in this wonderful material) were worn every day, on and off the x-country skis, and my large Shak was my mid or outer layer for four of the five days (with a Woolies beneath).

I've backpacked in the desert mountains with a Shak as my lone shirt from the moment I threw on the pack in 20 degrees, to the afternoon when the cool air burned off and it was 70. I air-dried it and put it back on before the night cool set in again (note: despite all the hype about fast-drying synthetics, alike weight synthetics don't dry that much faster than merino, and they have few of the comfort qualities--I couldn't hike/ride/ski in warm temperatures in a synthetic the same weight as this Shak, because synthetics just don't have the micro-climate qualities of merino--wool possesses, much less the environmental qualities wool offer.

I have thousands of miles and many many days wearing my two Shak Jerseys, not to mention the other Shak products (Vest, 2-Layer Gloves, Jacket, PO) I turn to for cool weather comfort.

    Such a rad piece

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

    This piece is great:

I think it is important to remember what you get from Ibex wool:

95% of their production in North America (Canada or USA)

uncompromising warranty--We?re committed to uncompromising craftsmanship and to your satisfaction. If you are unsatisfied for any reason, return your purchase within 60 days with proof of purchase to receive an exchange, repair, or refund.

Its wool!- SO it breathes better than synthetics, why? Because the breathability comes from the actual fibers of wool, not the space in between threads (like synthetics). Layers as many pieces of wool as you would like, you will not lose breathability.

    - I can wear Ibex fro 5 days straight in the backcountry and it will not smell.

    - Wool will not hold a flame, unlike a synthetic.

    - It is SUSTAINABLE- sheering sheep is as green as it gets.

Change your life, buy some Ibex.

    Almost too warm

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

My husband wore this in Colorado in 5 degree weather with a baselayer. He said it was incredibly warm and when it got warmer (30 degrees) it was almost too warm cuz he built up a sweat just walking around. He's stoked about using it to wear to football games when the weather's frigid. Then he doesn't have to carry piles of clothes with him.

    Great wool top

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The endearing shak has made an impression on me, for sure. Soft and well woven, I suppose there's a reason for it's legendary status for Ibex. Which, btw, is one of the best producer of wool clothing in the world. USA Made, terrific quality and I love how it fits snug which makes it functional as a base, mid or top. This partnered with a merino stoic t or my zepher zip t underneath can take me anywhere from 25f to 60f, courtesy of its zip feature. It's got a butt flap, which compared to the classic shak full zip makes it look a little frumpy as a top layer. I could care less really. Order with peace of mind...between and ibex's tear-free warranty, you cannot go wrong.

Ibex is the best wool choice

I have a drawer full of Smartwool, Ice Breaker and Ibex. All three seem to use very good materials and to produce a nice end product. Ibex, however, is the only one that is made in the US. So it gets my vote.

      Great fabric and fit

One of the finest pieces of clothing i've ever worn. Very warm, very comfortable. Perfect fit, on the athletic side. I'm somewhere between a small and medium for shirts and the small is perfect for me, so it runs on the small side. I wear it in the mountains, to the office, and at home. not quite cozy enough for normal base layer duty, but it has worked just fine in a pinch. perfect over a thin base layer or t-shirt. Luckily it resists odor so you don't stink after a ski tour. Dries almost as quickly as synthetics. machine washable. tough. looking for a full zip on sale :)
