Dyneema Summit 30L Backpack

The Hyperlite Mountain Gear Dyneema Summit Pack is an ultralight, minimalist, yet nearly indestructible pack for goal-oriented adventurers who travel light and demand a lot from their gear. It sports all the same features as Hyperlite's Summit 30L pack, except this version is made entirely from Dyneema fabric for completely waterproof, incredibly tough, and ridiculously lightweight performance.

Combining the minimalist elements of Hyperlite's Metro pack with functional basic daisy chains, fully taped seams, shock cord lacing, and compression straps, the Summit securely holds enough water, food, extra gear and clothing for your big day. And it’s streamlined so nothing gets in the way while you are en route. Bring it on your bigger adventures—it’s light and easy to stuff into a larger pack. Or just use this sweet rig for cycling, walking, or commuting to work.

Over rated

I've used it several times

there are far better packs out there that do the same (if mot better) job and at a fraction of the price. HMG make good kit, but I'd suggest you pass up on this particular item

Great do it all pack

I've put it through the wringer

I've been using this pack for 16mo or so every day and it is excellent. Handles the PNW rain with no issue. Commutes, skis, ice climbs, rock climbs, goes backpacking or into the alpine. Cinches down as small and tight as you want for running or cycling (I usually girth hitch a sling on one of the daisy chains for this, securing the other end with a small carabiner). Every day trip and a lot of weekends spent out of this bag. Is a little dirty but looks essentially new even after being hauled up chimneys in Red Rocks and Yosemite. It is not a 30 liter bag. Measured with water and a nalgene it holds 27 liters of water with the collar open and fully extended. Often my rope and helmet end up outside this bag. You always need to pack carefully. That being said I would highly recommend it.

Great pack for any occasion

I've put it through the wringer

The Dyneema Summit pack is kind off my dream pack. It's simple, nearly indestructible, and lightweight. The no-frills approach to everything built by Hyperlite Mountain Gear is a breath of fresh air in a world of over-manufactured outdoor products. The great thing about the Summit pack is it helps create simplicity in my approach to packing, not only what I bring, but how I pack it. It makes me think about why I'm bringing everything I'm bringing, and what I need and what I don't need. Not bad for a backpack to do those things, eh? If I'm not carrying it on my back through desert slot canyons or alpine peaks in the northeast, I'm throwing it in my bigger pack (the HMG 4400 Porter Pack) and using it as a true summit pack out of base camps set up in the mountains. Never a need to worry about getting the contents wet as the fabric is waterproof and over all the whole pack is extremely weatherproof. if you want a simple, elegant, no frills pack for bagging peaks or any other adventure you're heading out on, this is the pack.
