    Darn Good Container

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this to carry extra food on long days of class and/or work or other adventures in case there is no refrigerator available; it has definitely been a worthwhile investment. Contents stay cool for multiple hours depending on how packed it is; I pack a mixture of rice, lentils, potatoes and small veggies (basically a utilitarian stir-fry) and it is still cool after about 3 hours. Putting the loaded container in the fridge the night before also helps ensure things stay cool, about an extra hour. It can be a pain getting food in this thing; the mouth is not very wide, so paying close attention while putting food in it is a must.
Overall though I am completely happy with the purchase. I haven't tested how well hot food stays hot in this thing, but I plan to this winter and I have no doubt it will do well; if it is anything like the flask I use for drinks (in which after 2 hours on a winter hike a cup of hot tea is still too hot to drink), I am supremely confident it will perform well.

    Great Product

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This thing really works. I put hot food in it in the am and mid way through the day it's still hot. Great for camping or to make meals in for climbing/camping trips. Overall, very happy with this product!

Perfect container for soup on the slopes

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

We love our Food Flask. It keeps foods/soup nice and hot for several hours even in 20 degree weather. The lid design keeps items secure. Depending how hungry you are, the 18oz has enough capacity for two people to share or for one person to really get full. Definitely recommended.

    Keeps my soup pretty warm

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

After chewing on cold granola bars when all my friends had hot meals during a recent trip I decided it was time to invest in a food flask. This Hydro Flask easily holds a can of warmed up Chunky soup and seals it well since it usually shakes around in my backpack while snowmobiling. I've been really happy that it hasn't leaked on me, but I wish it would be a bit better insulated to keep my soup hot instead of luke warm. I've yet to try ice cream into a milkshake with this, but it sounds like a great idea.

    Keeps Hot Drinks Hot

Love having the widemouth option - way easier to clean than the narrow ones. I primarily use mine for bringing ice on long summer hikes and pour my other water bottle into it - great for this purpose. Also great for hot beverages (and food)...except that I'm a weirdo who prefers her coffee lukewarm.

      Hot Food All Day

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have had a couple HydroFlask bottles before, and they changed my hydration game. I was blown away by the fact that I could drink half my coffee before going for a ski tour and still have piping hot coffee hours later at the top of a ridge in single digit weather.
I decided to to get this just for my lunches and love it just as much. I can heat up some leftover soup in the morning and still have hot food for lunch whether I'm at work or on the trail.
Highly recommend for anyone that is thorugh with eating PB&Js and cold pasta all the time.

      Does as advertised

Isn't it great when a product does what it is supposed to do? Hydroflask is one of the best with water bottles and they've expanded to include their food thermos which is just as excellent. It definitely hold the cool or warm temperatures of the food you put in it pretty well (don't expect it to hold the exact temperature as when you put it in though). I haven't done a time test yet though to see how long it holds my temperatures. I tend to eat what I put in it after about 2-4 hours. Keep in mind that if you put ice cream in this thing that even though it will keep it cold for you, it will not hold the texture so you'll be drinking a milkshake more than spooning out some ice cream (still a fun treat though).

        amazing

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

i got a couple to try out then had to buy them for my whole family after. This will be a perfect hot lunch container for my children when school starts back up. Ive been in love with Hydroflask since i got my first 40oz water bottle. since then my family is all hydroflasked out (yes multiple) and my kids drink more water. Cant wait for my kids to be able to enjoy a nice hot meal in the winter at school! :)

Great Bottle - But Not For What You Need

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

As a big fan of Hydroflask, I have to say I was a bit let down by this product. I love the metal construction and the size but for food specifically, its just did not perform as well as I would have liked. I tend to use it as a regular bottle instead of a food container and for that, its great! For a full review and additional pictures, see our link below!

Great Bottle - But Not For What You Need

I'm the envy of the gondola

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use this thing every day in winter. Skiing stormy resort laps? Hot ramen in the gondola will earn your some jealous glances while you congratulate yourself for your foresight. Backcountry skiing? That melty mac & cheese will make everyone want to tour with you. Waiting in line for first chair? Steamy oatmeal... don't mind if I do! This thing is awesome. Buy it and thank yourself later. It won't keep things super hot after 4 hours in a frigid environment (because thermodynamics!) but your lunch will still be comfortably warm. I haven't tried ice cream yet, but summer is still young.

(I swear I'm happy in that picture...)

        Fresh Food

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love to use this for things like soup. Keeps it hot for hours! Really durable and does its job very well. Perfect for packing lunches for work or camping.

        Nice

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Using it everyday for morning coffee, made the night before around 10pm, enjoy a warm drink in the morning. Hydroflask makes quality products. Love the wide mouth and 18oz is a great size.
If you put something in that's boiling and close it, you'll need a pure concentration of strength and will to open it within an hour after, but that's to be expected for any quality insulated product :) I find putting rubber-bands around the lid and body to be very helpful.
My only critique is superficial; wish they made it in other colors, and they did!

Works well short term not long term

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Keeps what I want to eat hot which is to be expected. However don't expect that it'll keep things roasting for a long time. Good for heating something up in the morning and taking it to work or making some dinner and going out that evening and enjoying some hot soup while you start gaze.

No time for a microwave? NO WORRIES!

        • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

If you don't have time to microwave your soup or just plain don't want to use one then look no further! Hydroflask has your back! put your hot food in this thing in the morning and by lunch it will still be piping hot. I got this for my friend that is constantly driving for her job and so this is perfect for her since she typically doesn't have access to microwave or stove to heat her food. She usually eats fast food but now with this she can pack her own and ultimately healthier meals. :)

        Hot food for hours!

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This food canister is PERFECT for those crisp days where all that sounds good is a nice bowl of hot soup. Now you can take it with you and be prepared at all times for when you're hungry! You can bank on your food staying hot for hours once you've put it in the canister. Throw it in your backpack and hike up to a rad spot for a picnic, or even just to work! Love this product.

Perfect for hot food on the go

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have the smaller version and use it every winter great for bring hot meals to work and on the go I love the new bigger size going to buy a few more for X-MAS GIFTS

        Hot food lid functional defect

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Same review as the 12 oz I left. bought an 18 oz with the same problem. Can't get the lid off if you put hot food in. Soft gasket and the lid thread design will not get the lid off. There is a suction that develops and the lid just keeps spinning. You need to pry extremely hard to get the lid off with little to grab onto. If you do get the lid off, the gasket gets sucked into the food. Good for cold food, terrible for hot food. Problem every time with hot soup. No soup for you.
Tried flipping the gasket, tight, loose, same result. Food is hot and cold though. Hydro Flask Customer service is non responsive. they have successful, proven hard gaskets, yet they go with this useless soft gasket design.

        Hydro Flask Insulated Food Flask

I’m not a fan of storing food in plastic containers, so it’s great that these are pro grade stainless steel, BPA free and feature double walled insulation. Let me say right here that I am a huge fan of the new colors Hydro Flask is putting out, very sharp, appealing, and fun.I’ve used this to take hot food to my son’s soccer game, on a road trip, and a few other times. As a scientific inquiry, I primed it with boiling water, added hot food, and then opened it once an hour on the hour to see how long the food stayed warm enough to eat. In my case, that was 5 hours and even then the food had residual warmth. This is not your typical test, so I suspect that the flask can keep sealed hot food for at least the 6 hours Hydro Flask states. The food flasks come in two sizes and retail for about $30 for the 12 ounce and $35 for the 18 ounce. Hydro Flask does offer a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects, so feel confident in acquiring one of these.
