There's always room for a Softflask.

The Hydrapak Softflask 750 collapses compactly so you can fit it in your backpack regardless of how much climbing gear is in it. Its wide screw cap is easy to fill, and the twist lock ensures that it won't leak. The soft silicone bite valve is easy to drink out of when you're on the move.

It is meh

I thought this would be convenient since it collapsed, but it is a little hard to handle because it is flimsy...even with water in it. I found it difficult to open the mouth to fill. Because it felt flimsy, I thought it would leak, but it didn't. The product wasn't what I was expecting. I would not recommend this item

    For short multipitch

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought this for 2-4 pitch routes in mind. It's light, flexible and gets smaller as you drink. Also has a loop which I use to attach it to my harness. Can be awkward to hold but it works for what I wanted

    Positives and negatives

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Positives are that it packs down and is easy to carry. I generally hook this on the outside of a touring pack with a carabiner.

Negatives are that is becomes more awkward to handle as it has less fluid in it.

All in all it's ok. Probably would not buy another one.

Great for Hot Days on Rock

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have the 500 & 750 versions of the Softflask, and I use them primarily for the moderate multipitch climbs where you don't need to haul a pack up, but you know you'll be thirsty sooner than later. The long and narrow shape, not to mention the softness, makes Softflasks an excellent alternative to a Nalgene bottle racked on your harness.
The 500 is a bit small, but the 750 is pretty much the perfect size for me for 3-5 pitches. They've been scraped against sharp granite walls and have held up very well–no leaks at all.
If you usually clip a hard bottle like a Nalgene to your harness, try two 750 softflasks instead. Much less bulk and you can balance the weight better.

    Lightweight and easy.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I like the weight and small size when empty, but am a little disappointed in the size. It's the largest they offer, but I may have to get another to use for longer trips.

It's great for clipping to my climbing harness while belaying, and it's so lightweight I accidentally did a few climbs with it, forgetting it was on my belt.

    Lightweight and easy.

    Wine Size.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This bottle is awesome for backpacking... I put it to great use- it fits an entire bottle of wine! For those of you that like to pack in some class, this is the way to go. ;) Super flexible, won't burst (even if you jump on it), doesn't leak. Carries like a champ. And when it's empty, it doesn't take up any space!
