    Pile on the miles.

Like running on a cloud, the Hoka One One Stinson 3 Men's Running Shoe provides maximum cushioning and support for runners who go the extra mile. The lightweight, no-sew SpeedFrame upper eliminates unnecessary bulk with a streamlined design, while the ComfortFrame in the heel and midfoot ensures a cushy, snug fit with every stride. The late stage Meta-Rocker and external heel counter soften your foot strike and fight off pain and fatigue as you pound pavement. Equipped with a compression-molded EVA midsole to enhance impact-absorption and a high-abrasion rubber outsole for increased durability, the Stinson 3 is built to give you a stable, cushioned ride for years to come.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

These are the second pair I have owned after my brother suggested them and have really enjoyed them both. I'm a casual jogger but these shoes are so comfortable they make it a little easier to get out there. I have somewhat narrow feet and the stinson has been awesome.

    I'm not quite there yet....

Ok, I know Hokas work and work well, for *lots* of runners. I must be more of a traditionalist however, because try as I may I can't make them work for me. Kind of like the cannonade "Lefty" suspension fork. I want to feel a connection to the road or trail (not a minimalist shoe connection, that's an entirely separate rant) and the Hokas seem to snub that for me. I'm a mid-distance runner at best, so I can't speak to the long run advantages that they are supposed to provide. I felt that the initial heel strike was more "sharp" and abrupt than my Pearl Izumi N3's (r.i.p.) and the cushioning didn't seem to start absorbing the impact until well into the forefoot. By then, I'm ready for the "return" part of the spring rate for a little assistance at the back of my stride....again, like the Pearl's (and Nike Vomero's to a lesser extent). I found once I swapped back to my "normal" neutral, high cushion road shoes I felt like I was flying.

    Still in love...

I've had at least 6 pairs of Hokas over the past few years, mostly trail. I purchased these for indoor training and like them so far. The only complaint I have is they are a little narrow. Works fine for me for indoor training, but on long runs when my foot flattens out, they get a little snug. Weight is still light and you can't beat the cushion.
