Most Comfortable Shoe I Have Ever Owned
These boots are extremely impressive. So far I've taken them on a 60 mile backpacking trip on the Appalachian trail, across many day hikes, and up steep technical trails at Zion National Park. They exceeded my expectations in all categories. They are light, breathable, and so comfortable I don't even rush to take them off after a long day's hike. The grip and stability are great. The shape/style takes a little to get used to but I wouldn't trade them for anything at this point. I will definitely check out Hoka Hoka shoes going forward. Highly recommended! Note that they ran big for me, I am typically a 9.5 and got a 9 for this boot.

Save your money
They are not even close to being water resistant. . My feet were drenched this past weekend when we hiked in because the shrubs had water from the prior night's rain. Three days later, as we hiked out we had 2 hours of rain. My friend had Solomon Quest boots; his feet were dry both days. Save your money. My boots are 14 months old, and Backcountry told me they're beyond the warranty. I'm sorry they did not fail within the first 12 months!!!

Light and Fast
These were a gift for a peakbagging/trailrunning/general endurance fiend friend of mine--here's what he had to say! I have taken these out 3 times now on very different hikes. The first was 16 miles 4800 vertical up Mahogany mt near Mount Timapanogas in Utah with about half of it off trail with some bushwacking and scrambling. Not really what the shoe is made for, but it performed well with the added benefit that I was able to run downhill upon meeting the trail, surging through flooded sections in high water and remaining dry and passing 2 runners on the long downhill that had rocks that the Hoka sole absorbed similar to their other offerings, but with more ankle support. A runnable hiking boot!? The next hike was around 2400 vert 6 miles up Round Mountain in Washington. This trail was barely cut out and it had rained recently with a lot of brush that constantly shed on me. I had rain pants and a shell and remained dry except for my thighs perhaps, but eventually the shoes either soaked through, or the wicking from my socks eventually drained. Either way, my feet were soaked. I would not expect a light membrane with this constant of exposure to hold up though. I dont knock the boot too much, what was hard was the scramble down from the summit on wet foliage, I slipped alot and had tobe careful, my Asolo Powermatics would have been better in this case, but heavier and much more rigid, different benefits. The next hike was as an approach shoe to climb Mount Baker via the Coleman Deming route. I brought my La Sportiva Nepal Evo for the glacier climb in my pack. I am glad I brought these and this is where they really excelled. Waterproof in the rain and stream crossings, supportive for a heavy load. Managed the minimal snow crossings, but on the return trip downhill I was fast and they saved my feet from the pain of the already long day in the rigid Evos. The last 2200 vert down of a 8800 vert day were almost a pleasure for my feet in these. Great boots if you use them for the right things, somewhat concerned for the long term wear of the sole if used on extremely rugged, rocky, off tail terrain, but once again that is not really what they are designed for. Did I mention they are extremely light? Lightest boots I have ever had for sure.

Super comfortable boot
These replaced a pair of Merrell Moab boots for work, where I walk about ten miles a day. They have considerably more arch support and roll me through my stride much more smoothly than any previous boot I've had. After about a week part of the toe cap on the outside of the right boot began peeling off. I repaired it with GearAid Freesole shoe repair glue and the problem hasn't recurred. They do pick up mud and pack it in the tread, and don't release it easily. Overall I'm VERY happy with the Sky Kahas, and based on my experience with these, I expect to try some other models in this brand.

Excellent hiking boot but
I had a pair of these and took them on several hikes in Moab and a couple places in Arizona. The tread peeled off in one spot. I’m not sure if my shoe was defective or it speaks to the build but after about 6 hikes and two months of owning them, it shouldn’t have happened. The boot had incredible grip and traction and was super comfortable. I wore these climbing up slab, loose rock, and more moderate hikes. It performed exceptionally even on rock with wet sand. I returned the pair I have and haven’t decided if I’ll give them another shot. Took about six hours of hikes or so to break them in.

13 too big in toe box
Boot is a bit too wide in toe box and might make it difficult to feel in control when precision movement is required. This is in addition to the fact that 13 boot was too big. The boot apparently runs wider than La Sportiva Nucleo as this boot in size 13 fit more comfortably.

Ordering the wrong size is not a review of the product.

Hi, given the lack of arch, what hiking gaiter would you recommend with this boot?
