Hoka One One Clifton 3 Running Shoe

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 7.5

This is a great shoe for anyone looking for light weight with a lot of cushion. Great for distance running or anyone who is one their feet for long periods of time. The fit is a little narrow so wide width customers beware of that. They also tend to run a little long. If you have any questions about this shoe send me an email! jkelch@backcountry.com

    Wife loves them!

My wife was skeptical about Hoka's because they look ... well ... different. But she's been converted to a believer (which I already was) after running and hiking in the Clifton 2's. They're VERY lightweight, which is surprising given the level of cushioning.

Although designed for road use, she's bee using them on trails and is very happy with the level of traction. She used them recently to scramble around sand stone in Moab and they gripped well while maintaining comfort (biggest challenge on steep slopes is that there's a bit of play with the thick sole).

Her first day was a 6 mile hike, and they were comfortable with no blisters. Comfy!!

      half good

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: 8.5

I love the color (blue and neon green) and the fit on my left foot is great--very comfortable.

My right foot--not so much. At first I felt pressure on the top of my foot near the toes, so I stuffed some newspaper in there to stretch it out. Now It hurts near the side of the little toe.

I emailed someone who said they were "my personal gearhead" and never heard back.

I am going to try stretching with a shoe tree and see if that helps but I am pretty disappointed with an $85 shoe that doesn't fit right.

Love my Clifton 2's for the gym

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 7

I love my Clifton 2's. I went for the 2's instead of the 3's because my foot is narrow and the 2's seem to fit my narrow feet better than the 3's, (which I bought and returned.) I have mild plantar fasciitis , (high arches too) and run in Hoka Stinson's . I bought the Clifton 2's for the gym. They are a little lighter and have less bulky sole than the Stinson's but still offer that same great Hoka cushioning

      disappointed

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size

Love most HOKAs and my faves are the Stinsons and Mafates so I thought I'd give Cliftons a try. It did deliver. It was a cheap imitation of the ones I mentioned. Returning.

      Walk on clouds

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

I bought these for my sister and she can't say enough about these shoes! It took only a moment to get used to the appearance of these shoes, but the moment that we picked them up and felt how light they were, we were beyond impressed. She absolutely loves the fit and comfort of them and claims to never want to take them off, regardless if she is out for a run, chasing the kids around the house, headed out to the store, or even heading to the office. She now wants more pairs as she no longer enjoys several of the other athletic shoes in her closest like she enjoys her Hokas.

      My favorite shoes

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I am a huge fan of Hoka shoes. The Clifton is their more lightweight and streamlined running shoes but still provides the ultimate cushion and comfort. That said, I do feel like they can be wide on my foot but I am willing to deal with it.

      Not A Good Fit

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size

I ordered the Cliftons based on all the positive reviews but when I tried them on a half mile run, they were very heavy, my legs hurt and the sides of my feet were red and sore, almost too much padding hard to feel the road and made my feet numb, I am a seasoned runner logging around 50 miles per week and these were the worst sneaker I ever ran in, I knew the minute I started running, they were not right for me, I have a narrow foot and these run narrow and stilled rubbed on the sides of my feet while the tops were too big, the size fit true to size so no problem with sizing

      Not A Good Fit

      Love this shoe !

This is my wife's third pair of these shoes. She loves the fit and comfort. They are lightweight and breathable and you almost feel like you're walking on air. She still has the other two pairs, but just insisted on the latest model.
