    Love 'em!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 9

I have poor circulation in my hands so they tend to get cold easily. I'm not going to say my hands haven't gotten cold in these gloves, but they've done a better job than others that I own, so I have to imagine for most people, these will be plenty warm.

I think what I like most about them is how comfortable they are. People are often worried about mobility with mittens, but I find these to be low profile and not cumbersome at all. I tried the Seth Morrison crab finger and found them to be far less comfortable and not nearly as warm. Both are great options, but for me, these are fantastic. Highly recommend.

Great mitten but a bit tight

I have wanted a pair of Hestra mittens every since I tried a pair on at REI two years ago. A few colors of these were on sale and I finally got my chance.

    Fit:
I found the sizing for the mitten is on par. I measured up for a size 9, and the size 9 fits my hands perfect. HOWEVER, the wrists on this model is quite small. I really struggle to get my hands through the opening, but once on they are perfect. The Hestra fall line mittens I tried on in size 9 did not have this issue. Unfortunately, this mittens will eventually fail at the wrist for me since it is such a strain to get my hands through them. This might be just me though, I have very large hands but very short fingers.

    Ergonomics:
I have been snowboarding since 1998. These are the best feeling mittens I have ever put on my hands from an ergonomics standpoint. I've always loved the gloves inside of mittens feel though. Inside normal mittens there is chaos and disorder, fingers are flying everywhere!

    Build quality:
So far I can not knock anything on the build quality, they seem solid.

    Look:
They look like boxing gloves! Awesome!!!!

    Tip:
Oil/wax your leather gloves and mittens. If you take care of them they will last forever and take care of you. If you neglect them they will get you wet and cold fast.

    Superb Mittens

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

I was skeptical of the interior gloves, but they are great. Super comfortable. Defininately print out the hand-measurement chart. It makes it very clear what size you need. Great gloves.

    Best Mitts I've Owned

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

These mitts are super warm, the leather is quick to break in, and the quality is super high. Although I thought they were a bit childish at first, I have come to love the wrist loops. Never have to worry about dropping a mitt when on the lift or when snapping a picture if a friend.

    Best Mitts I've Owned

Just what I was looking for.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

January 1984, I purchased leather down filled mittens for $80 while at Sugarbush, VT. Finally had to replace those mittens and picked the Hestra Henrik Windstedt Pro Mitt. Love the leather, the feel of the material inside and the cuff at the wrist. Best part is the handcuff that allows you to take off your mittens and not drop them. Mitten inside is like a glove feel but I had no problem with my hands staying warm (I wear a fleece wristy with mittens so there is no gap between mitten and jacket).Hope these last another 30 years!

    Good but not super warm

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small

I run warm. Fingers never really cold. These.. My pinkys were cold on a 30f day. We will see. I like they are all leather. Seem like they are made well. Oh and i am a 31 yr old male. I notice women have been commenting a lot on hestra, so thats my 2 cents.

    Best Mitt Ever Made!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I am on the third 100+ day season with these mitts. I use them almost every day unless it is spring-like warm. They seem to have a temperature control built in them so they are not too hot when it is warm and warm when it is cold. I admit that when it is really cold, I use the little 'Hottie" heater packs to keep comfortable. My gloves show no wear even after hard use for all those ski days. The "keepers" are a must and are a little different than those on other Hestra products. The only warmer set-up that I have is the Heli Mitt with the Heli Glove liner in it, and this is just a little warmer maybe because of the long gauntlet. I will buy another pair if I am ever able to wear these out!

    Warmest, Softest Mitts

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

These mitts are the warmest and most comfortable mitts, I have a crush on them. If your hands get cold easily these are life savers. The leather is super soft and the interior feels like heaven for your hands. If you would like a pair of mitts and don't need the super, duper cold weather mitts try Hestra's Fall Line mitt- they are not as heavy duty. The wrist strap that comes with the mittens are invaluable- it makes it so easy to rip the mitts off and not worry about losing them.

To keep the mitts in good shape (the leather from drying out) and their waterproofness up, I continually put on the Hestra goop that comes with the mittens. It's good to lube them up before you even wear them for the first time.

I think these mitts fit true to size, I wear a size 7 and I have about a medium sized woman's hand.

    Great Mitt For Cold Days

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

These are my go to gloves for cold days (<0F in the AM) when I don't need the dexterity of the Henrik Pro Glove. I.e., I'm not sledding, working with ropes, etc. My hands are usually the first things on my body to get cold but when I'm wearing these mitts it leaves that job to my feet. Some people think the wrist loops are a little goofy, but after rocking them for a season there's no way I'd ski without them. They leave your hands free to move instead of awkwardly sticking them under your arm pit or dropping them off the chair. I treat my gloves with the accompanying balm or a similar store-bought balm to make them a little more supple and to up keep the leather. Not totally required, but it helps give the gloves a little more life and maintains the feel.

    Unanswered Question

I'm looking for a mitt with maximum durability. Therefore leather is a must, but the stitching is almost more important. One thing I can't see in the pictures is the stitch connecting the thumb to palm. Is it a double or single stitch? Or is it a hidden stitch like the strip of leather around the finger tips?

    Hello,
I know someone has already asked, "How warm are these" but seriously, comparing them to other mittens.. How warm are they ? Can someone review them, compare them to other mittens, and rate the warmth factor out of 10?
Ps - What is a finger divider?
    Thank you!!!

I agree - an 8 or 9 is accurate. Super warm for resort and most backcountry riding. Serious expedition scenarios may require something more stout. They are my favorites and reliable cold weather mitten while working patrol. You will not be disappointed. The quality is second to none. There is a fixed finger glove liner inside. I was skeptical, but now a believer. Same pair now for 3 seasons. Below zero wok is no issue for me and I have cold hands.

Does anyone know how these compare in...

Does anyone know how these compare in warmth to the heli mitt and/or the skicross mitt? Is there a definitive answer to which hestra mitt is the warmest?

    Best Answer

The warmest Mitt is the electric one! Otherwise these are comparable to the others. They have finger compartments, so they feel warmer to me than the Heli Mitt. I converted my Heli's by putting in a Heli glove liner and that made them warmer. The Expedition Mitt might top all for warmth, but I have not used them.

It is somewhat of a subjective question as it largely depends on the person using the gloves and what you are doing. For someone using them while actively skiing they should be warm down into the single digits. For just standing around maybe into the 20s or 30s. Again it is somewhat subjective.
