Rugged and reliable.
Patrollers tend to be no-nonsenes guys and gals who'd rather be skiing and getting stuff done that monkeying with, or spending lots of money on, equipment. They do demand a lot from their gear, though, so Hestra made the Ergo Grip Patrol Glove to be simple, rugged, and reliable so it can handle the work of a patroller and the everyday demands of an average Joe. The body of the glove is proofed cowhide, which is highly water-resistant when you finish it with Hestra's leather treatment, and the palm and pre-curved fingers are made of extra-rugged army leather to stand up to rope work, shoveling, and all the other miscellaneous jobs that crop up around the mountain. It's important that your gear dries quickly when you have to go back out in a few short hours, so Hestra designed the Patrol with a removable merino-wool-blend liner that speeds up the drying process and keeps your hand warm when you're getting things done.

Ergo Grip w/ Removable Liners
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
This glove is very dexterous which is a bit tougher to come by in a glove with a removable liner. The liner is very thick on the backside of the hand but fairly thin in the fingers and palm to allow for that dexterity. It is not the warmest Hestra glove I have worn but I do not intend to wear it on the absolute coldest days.
I really like these for ski touring as I can skin in the liners and slip the gloves over when I'm ready to descend.
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
I gave these as a gift and the Hestra brand is so much more than one could hope for. The leather is buttery soft, superior warmth. Although it hasn't been needed yet, since the liner is removable keeping the liner smelling fresh will be easy.
