Why We Like The Lifaloft Hooded Insulator Jacket
The Helly Hansen Lifaloft Hooded Insulator Jacket works well as an outer layer during fall or spring hikes when the weather is less than ideal, and it can be worn as a midlayer when we're taking runs at the resort. It's made with a windproof shell, treated to shed light rain and snow, and filled with lightweight synthetic insulation that keeps warm even in wet conditions. Elastic at the hood and cuffs help seal out the chill, and the hem features a drawcord closure to lock in valuable body heat.

I bought this for cold 20 degree and warmer days and it is much warmer than I had expected. The insulation felt thin out of the box but after wearing on 3 cold days and nights without much concern of layering underneath, I was pleasantly surprised by the warmth. It might not be my answer on those zero degree days, but I prefer this over my Marmot heavy down jacket because it doesn't have the bulk. 6'1", 200 lbs, 34" waist and I got an XL which fits great.
