    Free your calves.

The Helly Hansen Men’s ¾ Pants stop above your calves, so you don’t have another layer in your already-tight ski boots. These Helly Hansen base layer bottoms not only provide lightweight insulation, they also wick perspiration, so you can charge hard on the mountain or in the backcountry and not feel clammy. Flat stitching reduces chafing and flex panels let you move freely.

    Terrible Fit

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Bought these at my local turkey sale. was stoked on the deal, got home to find the larges that I bought fit like a small. Crotch was down between my knees or bottoms were ABOVE my kneecap!
Disappointing as the L merino briefs fit like a dream.

    Weirdest fit ever

    • Size Bought: large
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 170lbs

I'm a pretty normal size large with almost skinny thighs. These long johns were very tight in the legs, low in the back, not very stretchy ... basically uncomfortable. They are going back. Too bad because the material seems nice.

    Best ever had

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Med
    • Height: 6'
    • Weight: 205lbs

Got these for skiing, & they are awesome. I prefer them over the smartwool for the money. I like my base layer to fit tight. The medium were perfect, L was a little loose.

    Run Very Small

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 170lbs

This product runs extremely small. I bought the Men's medium and they barely fit my 14 year old, tiny daughter. Gave them to her....

Great Bottom Layer, Perfect for Skiing

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: medium
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 175lbs

The fit of this base layer is perfect for me. I am 5'9" and 175 lbs and purchased Mediums. I am not one to get cold while skiing, so the most important thing to me is being dry, which equates to warm. They do make another line called "Warm" if you tend to get cold legs. This base layer is great because once I'm out skiing I never even know they are on. I also really like the fact that they don't go down into my ski boots.I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Great base layer, esp with ski boots

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love not having to deal with the full length pants when I'm wearing ski boots. These go down just to the tops of my socks, right where I need them to be, and don't get pulled down or bunched up by being inside my ski boot.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These bottoms are great. They are nice and tight, but not too tight so they are comfy while out of your way. They are also warm compared to most long underwear. I liked the sound of the 3/4 length because it's out of the way of your socks, but when I was wearing them skiing there occasionally was a gap between my socks and the bottoms therefore making that part of my leg cold. the other downside is that the sizing runs small. Besides these downsides, if you get the sizing dialed in, they are a great bottom.

    I like these pants.

What a relief not to have to layer socks and full length pants. I'm 6'3" with a 42" waist, and xxl was the way to go. Panels around knees felt good. I did discover that full length ski pants helped hold my socks up; be careful about combining 3/4 length with "quitters", your socks need to support their own weight!

Best baselayer pants - Hands down

I've used quite a few different base layers over the years growing up back east. Now living in Jackson, WY for a few seasons I've come to appreciate a good base layer in so many different conditions inbounds and out. HH dry with lifa technology is an outstanding fabric. Keeping you warm when you need it and wicks moisture when your setting a bootpack. The 3/4 length is one of the best features with no bunching in the boot. Helly Hansen products always are great quality and last a while. If you try them once, no going back to any other brand.

        The Perfect Length

The 3/4 pant is just long enough to keep your upper-shin and above covered and warm. The pant doesn't get down into your boots which saves your shin for any discomfort caused by full-length long underwear. With the 3/4 pant you don't sacrifice any warmth either. I'm equally warm as I would be with full-length long underwear, but I'm far more comfortable. 3/4 length is where it's at!

          Duct tape?

After reading some positive reviews on 3/4-length bottoms I bought these. I've had some problems with the legs riding up or my ski socks falling down, which is less than desirable in cold weather. I would recommend either buying these a little on the big side or taping them to your socks.

Otherwise I'm obviously happy with the Euro-stylish capri look.
