Why We Like The Chair Zero Camp Chair

Chairs are usually the first things that get left behind on a backpacking trip. But instead of settling for sitting on stumps or planting your butt in the dirt, you can enjoy sitting above the ground in the Helinox Chair Zero Camp Chair. Unlike other packable camp chairs, this one comes complete with a back rest so you can relax after a long day of hiking instead of constantly trying to stay balanced when you're scarfing down your camp meal. Best of all, it's extremely lightweight and packs down to the size of your water bottle so you can bring it just about anywhere, from deep in the backcountry to summer outdoor concerts.

Never leave home without it

I’m not an ultra lite freak, and 1 pound of weight is worth the comfort. I don’t know why I ever hiked without it. Game changer

Great little chair

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Let's start with the good. It is so small and so light that I can put it in my small shoulder bag. It sets up and takes down easily with little to no learning curve. It is quite comfortable, but I doubt someone very large would say that. It's nice looking and breathes well when you are on it. The downside is using it on sand or in other soft ground places. I knew that so I also got the ground sheet specifically made for the zero chair. (Backcountry does not sell it, so I got it direct from Helinox.) I tried and tried but could not get the ground sheet on the chair legs. I have had elbow surgery, so I figured it might be me. I asked my 18 year old son to try and he could not get the ground sheet on the chair. We both tried and came to the conclusion that the only way to get in on the legs would be to break them. So, I will say that I will try again soon and update this review if I find a way to succeed. But, my renew for now is that the chair is absolutely great, unless you want to use it on sand or soft ground. Too bad, that.

The Cadillac of Backpack chairs

NICE. This chair is great. Super lightweight and comfortable. Needed a new chair as I previously had a Thermo-Rest'r chair I used for decades, but no longer worked when I graduated to an air sleeping pad. Alas, I decided to splurge on a couple of these chairs for myself and my wife. To me, this is the one 'must have' luxury item for backpacking. Only has one issue that I have dealt with so far - it really prefers a flat, solid surface to sit on. I've nearly fell out of the chair a couple times by either putting on a non-flat surface, or more frequently, punching one of the legs deep into the earth..

Should have done this years ago

Bought a pair of these for my wife and I. We hike and backpack a lot. These allow us to sit and take breaks. Rather than having to find rocks or logs to sit, we pop these up in just a few seconds. It allows us to rest our backs as well. We used them for the first time on a 25 mile day hike and now wonder why we did without them. I?m about 240 and almost 6 feet tall. I simply use my hiking poles to assist me up and it really works great.
