Ultralite SDS Fly Reel

Hardy designed its Ultralite SDS Fly Reel for everything from hard-fighting Chinooks to drag-burning Tarpons. Even though the reel is exceptionally light for its size, it is still made from a fully machined 6061 bar stock aluminum with an anodized finish, making it strong enough to deal with both the rugged fisheries where large species of fish live and the travel required to access those remote waters.

Available in three sizes, the Ultralite SDS Fly Reel 8/9 weight option is ideal for salmon and steelhead fishing and is great for smaller saltwater species of fish. The largest offering will pair well with everything from a 12- to 14-weight rod and is capable of retrieval rates of up to 14 inches per revolution, making it an excellent reel for fast-swimming flat water fish like tarpon. Hardy's seven point stacked carbon fiber SDS disc drag system is fully sealed to handle corrosive saltwater and features a color-coded drag knob that can fully tightened with a single revolution. Spools can be easily switched out thanks to the Quick Captive spool release system, while the included reel case protects your purchase when you're en route to your next once-in-a-lifetime catch.
