    Details

The hum of a reel is music to your ears.

Your fishing gear may not be a cantata, but if it was, the Hardy Fortuna XDS would sing the most popular movement. It harmonizes strength and weight with a lightweight design and a drag pressure of up to thirty pounds. The drag has 340 degrees of adjustment and a color-coded regulator to keep it precisely in tune, and a captive spool release to ensure you can change lines without hassle.

    • Reel for saltwater fishing
    • Disc drag is smooth and strong
    • Drag pressure up to 30 lbs
    • Large arbor for fast line pickup
    • Item #HDY001H

XDS12 Perfect for Tarpon + Offshore

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Who knew Hardy could make a great high end salt water fly fishing reel? A friend recently brought this reel on a tarpon and offshore trip to Florida and Baja. The XDS12 with 30lbs gel spun backing took on a 40 lbs jack, a 140 lbs tarpon, a 25 lbs dorado, and a 40 lbs. amberjack! The tarpon nearly spooled us a few times but the pick up and drag on the XDS were impressive.

On top of it all, the simple design of this reel makes it the high end version of the Redington Behemoth. You can feel the quality difference. This is an impressive high end salt water reel from a traditional English reel maker.
