Top quality material, construction, and function. They felt perfect from the first time I laced up. The Vibram soles saw me through rain with no difficulty, and managed better than I expected in slush. I went on several treks in varying conditions in the Wasatch mountains and further south in Capitol Reef and I have nothing but stellar things to say. Gore-tex provided solid waterproofing but I never felt too warm as somehow these shoes are bombproof AND breathable. They're one of the comfiest boots I've ever worn actually. I typically prefer trail runners when I don't have a pack, but these are so light and comfy that I have no qualms bringing them on anything from a quick hike to a longer backpacking trip. Less important, but still always worth mentioning for a boot is the style. I wore these everywhere and every when. Home in the mountains or at home. The 2 1/2 pounds or so i weighed them at can feel a little hefty when not outdoors, but it was never an issue for me. I love the slick seams and coloration. I got many compliments on them including from the girlfriend (which is really the only opinion that matters). As far as care, the company has their own cobbler stateside in Portland or you can bring it to someone local for resoling. I don't expect them to wear out anytime soon though.

HanWag seems to be a pretty solid company with really well made boots. I'm curious how the internal and external wear has been on those first six cordura eyelets.
