Don't leave on your adventure without the L.I.M Pants from Haglofs in your pack. These waterproof, windproof pants only add 7 ounces to your load, but provide defense against the elements to keep your trip fun. Gore-Tex Paclite leads the industry in extremely breathable, waterproof protection. It seals out rain without turning you into a sauna by allowing vapor to escape as you work up a sweat. The full-length side zippers ensure that you can get the pants on and off without removing your footwear—a critical move in wet conditions—and provide ventilation when you start to overheat. The cut features articulated knees to minimize excess fabric that would otherwise cause bunching and restriction, and the regular fit leaves room for your baselayers without looking overly baggy. The adjustable hem and elasticated waist conform to fit you precisely as well as interface nicely with your gear for the day from boots to backpack.

I don't know why it's so difficult to find rain pants for backpacking, but for some reason, all the pants are slim legged and, not only are they uncomfortable when wearing hiking pants underneath, but it's impossible to take them on/off with hiking boots on. I don't know about you, but when I'm caught out in a rainstorm, I don't want to stop, set down my backpack, take off my hiking boots (and possibly gaiters), put the rain pants on, then put my boots back on. I am looking for rain pants that are quick on and off and useful year round. These pants seem to meet those goals. They have a wider leg than many pants now days, plus the almost full length zippers should help. I'm a little worried about those zippers when I put my pack on, but if I slouch the pants down lower than my waist, I think they'll be okay. They're also decently long on me; not perfect, but I'm used to my pants being too short. They do run a little small, though. The size chart claims that a size small will fit a 29.5 inch waist, and maybe they will if you stretch them to the max, but my waist is about 28 inches and I think they're a little tight. I would size up except the size medium is out of stock and these are the only rain pants that I've tried (out of 8 pairs) that even sort of fits. So I'll keep them. Note: I have not tried these in the rain yet, but I ran water over them in the sink and rubbed it in a little and they didn't seem to leak.
