    The packable puffy.

The 800-fill goose down inside the Haglöfs Women's Essens III Jacket means that this lightweight, compressible, and versatile coat packs a punch against cold weather. Ready for anything from carving the slopes to bagging the peaks to shoveling the driveway, the Essens is all about protecting you from the chill no matter what cold-weather activity you're getting into. The Pertex Quantum exterior is equal parts weather-resistant, lightweight, and durable, while a DWR exterior coating helps the Essens shed light moisture. Not to mention, the mini baffle construction keeps the down exactly where it needs to be, which is important when you're packing, unpacking, and on the go. A short cut eliminates excess bulk and further enhances packability, and Polartec Power Stretch shoulder panels allow for ultimate freedom of movement. Haglöfs started in Sweden in 1914, so you know you're getting a century of experience behind this piece.

    Great jacket

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

I bought this for my wife for Christmas and she loves it. She has not had a chance to wear it much yet but she loves the color and the way it is so light weight yet warm.

    Lightweight & Perfect for Layering!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XS
    • Height: 5'4"
    • Weight: 120lbs

I used this piece recently on a sunrise hike. The temperature when I started was in the low 20's and on the descent it was in the 50's - so at times I had layers both under and over this jacket. It provided warmth without being bulky. I am pretty small up top, but have broad shoulders so a lot of times an XS fits me all over except across the back. The powerstretch shoulder inserts made sure I was able to move in any direction without feeling restricted - even with a fully packed backpack on. Overall, great layering jacket - a must have weight for any winter activities.

    Lightweight warmth

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'1"
    • Weight: 120lbs

I'm 5'1, 120 lbs and am within the Medium measurements on the size chart. The jacket fits perfectly over layers and even has a little room to spare. I got the green color and while the body looks exactly as shown in the picture, the stretch panels look much brighter and is more of a contrasting color than shown. Not sure if that's the case with the other colors.

Due to the lack of winter weather, I haven't had a chance to really test it out yet. I did, however, wear it while moving a couch last night and it was great! The lightweight down was perfect for the 40 degree weather and the stretch panels allowed lots of arm movement without feeling restricted or like I was going to Hulk out of the jacket. I also ran into a stucco wall several times and thought for sure the sleeve ripped, but it didn't leave a scratch. Weighing only 8 oz. the jacket is super warm and packs down into its own sleeve about the size of a large grapefruit.

    Highly recommend this jacket!
