All-weather protection for mountain-fun.

The Men's Astral III Jacket from Haglofs utilizes a Gore-Tex membrane and fully taped seams to keep you dry in any weather you encounter. The nylon ripstop outer fabric is extremely durable and is treated with a DWR finish to help shed moisture and increase the life of the jacket. Underarm zip vents can be opened on hot days to help you shed some of that humid air, and plenty of pockets give you plenty of storage options for any occasion.

Nice Jacket Beluga more gray

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL
  • Height: 6'0"
  • Weight: 192lbs

Bought this jacket on sale and glad I did. Initial impression is jacket is well made and a good value at the sale price. XL was good fit for me with room for layering under. I have large shoulders, 43-44 chest and 34-35 arms. Just want to point out that the Beluga color is more gray with a touch of green hue rather than the more green color as it appears on my monitor, but works for me. For a shell I like the mesh lining and all the pockets.

Phenomenal performer.

Maiden voyage this weekend on MT Washington. This is an extremely well designed and well made jacket. Winds on the summit were in excess of 65mph and I only had a merino long underwear top and one heavy fleece under this shell. It was perfect. Not a hint of wind finds its way in. Very comfortable and looks good too. High quality!

    Almost but not quite

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 6'4"
    • Weight: 170lbs

I tried this jacket on and it fit well for me in the chest and shoulders but I found the hood too short and constricting without wearing a helmet. Arm length was good. Build quality seems good as well.

    Not cut for wide shoulders

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 180lbs

The overall quality of this jacket is good but the cut seems to be for the typical European, not great for those with large shoulders. I am 5'11, 180, 34 inch waist but have large shoulders. I bought the Large and it feels tight across my back even while wearing a light long sleeved shirt underneath. If I wanted to wear a light vest under it in addition it would be pretty tight. I could go to an XL but then the arms would be ridiculously long. My shirt size is 16 1/2 X 34 regular cut so I think a large should have handled it.

I'm sure this fits well for slim to medium build but if you are large in the shoulders and chest like me, it's going to be tight.
