Versatile adjustment for the long haul.

The Nejd 65 Backpack features Haglöfs' fully adjustable Instant+ suspension system for a custom-like carry over long distances. Instant+ moves the padded waist belt and shoulder straps vertically along the back panel to give you a personalized fit. Haglöfs equipped the Nejd's back panel, waist belt, and shoulder straps with extra padding to ensure comfort on long trails.

The Nejd is a traditional top loader, and it has a removable lid that doubles as a daypack for shorter hikes away from the campsite. There are two spacious pockets on the removable lid for snacks, layers, and a headlamp. Haglöfs also gave this backpack a rain cover to protect your gear, dual loops for ice axes or trekking poles, a gear loop for extra equipment, and multiple pockets for convenient storage and organization.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

After years of carrying with Macpac and Osprey I've moved to Haglofs based on the quality / functionality of their clothing. Two very wet New Zealand hikes suggest the Nejd 65 will be a keeper. The harness design is very simple (similar to some Arc'teryx models) but extremely easy to adjust and very comfortable under a moderate load. The harness straps and hip belt are constructed with relatively thick, high density material and this seemed to reduce pack fatigue. It's worth noting that one of the "Instant Adjustable System" hooks on a shoulder strap slipped off whilst walking (actually, it most likely happened when I put the pack on) and this caused the load to loose balance. It's not a big deal and is simple to correct - something to check though if the pack seems suddenly unstable. Capacity is listed at 65 litres but I suspect this volume is an absolute maximum. The narrow base means bulkier sleeping bags will need to be packed mid compartment. The lid fits well and has two generous pockets - overall access to smaller on-trail items is excellent. It knows how to rain in New Zealand and the included rain cover fits perfectly and kept the pack dry (contents were packed in dry bags too). So far, really good. Initial impressions are much better than those I had of the Osprey Aether 70.

    The sizing specs are below.

    S/M 43-49cm

To find this measurement you will want to measure from the large vertebrae at the base of your neck (the one that sticks out) to the vertebrae that is inline with the top of your hip bone.
