Energy Stroopwafel
Whether a light breakfast pre-run or mid-ride fuel, the Stroopwafel is a great way to switch up from the usual gels and chews for something that tastes less ready for space flight. The Stroopwafels provide plenty of complex and simple carbohydrates and are low in fiber and protein, making them easier to digest and great for low to moderate-intensity activities. 75-150mg of sodium, depending on flavor, replaces the main electrolyte lost when we sweat to keep our fluids balanced and bodies performing at their best. The syrup filling contains important amino acids, BCAAs, which GU states help to protect muscles from breakdown and prevent mental fatigue.
For athletes looking to avoid gluten, the Wildberry, Coconut, and Salted Chocolate flavors are made from a gluten-free flour blend, including rice, tapioca, and potato starch flours. All Stroopwafel flavors contain egg.

Stoop Waffle...
I legit thought it was stoop waffle for the longest time, I even questioned the name. Looks like I need to slow down my reading a bit... What I can say is that these are great for training and pre / post race snacks. I wouldn't use them as a general snack for a quick pick me up. For that, head to the stinger, but for riding and racing days, Stroop Waffles for sure. They're solid little guys, they don't crumble and they're tasty as all get out. Post ride, I will stick it in the toaster oven and warm it up and it's even tastier. On a side note, don't leave them where your kids can find them because they will 1: eat them and 2: have more energy than they know what to do with.

Best Flavor: Salted Hot chocolate
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
The Salted Chocolate waffles are my go to hiking and biking snack. Easy, not too crumbly, and hella tasty. I find myself having them with my morning coffee break in the office as well!

S'more Fun
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
While GU may not be the original purveyor of Stroopwafel, they sure do a great job with their flavor variety. The Campfire S'more flavor was my latest try out, and they are delicious as well as perfectly portable for all the activities. I find that GU's stroopwafel don't crumble nearly as much as other brands do, staying in fine form through rides, runs, and roadtrips. I recommend these for anyone looking for a real-er energy food option.

Great taste decent amount of energy
These taste great and provide a small caffeine boost but don’t have enough calories to give long lasting energy. They are a good way to mix up what you eat on longer days.

comparison with honey stinger
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Both waffles have a good chocolaty flavor (i prefer the chocolate) and look basically the same but i am going to break down a few of the differences so you can choose the best one for you. - Right out of the package the GU waffle is less crumbly and looks better then the honey stinger -First bite is very chocolaty, perfect to pair with tea, coffee, or a big dollop of whipped cream. -The GU waffle stands out because it is dryer, kinda has that powdery chocolate flavor, and it does not have the gooey chocolaty fudge sticky stuff in the middle like the honey stinger has. -After looking at the nutrition labels it looks like that's where the difference is. If your more of a casual snacker and just want a quick bite, the Honey Stinger Waffle is a healthier option for that situation. If your training and this product is apart of your diet GU is the way to go. It has more sodium, more carbs, and more sugar for someone who is working out or planning on working out so they need a quick boost.

Excellent!
- Familiarity:

Other 'energy cookies' I've tried in the past are usually dry, mushy or just not enjoyable. The GU Stoopwafel was excellent! I tried the chocolate and caramel coffee and they both had a nice chewy, yet crumbly consistency. I really enjoyed them. These will be great for travel if you need a tasty, pack-able snack that gives you a little energy. I'll be keeping some of these in my car for snowboard season!
