    Leashes for leashless tools.

The Grivel Spring Leash lets you take advantage of leashless tools without the risk of dropping one off a steep ice route or half way up an alpine climb. Available as a single leash for mountaineering or a double for the steep stuff, this leash contracts to keep from tangling an extends to your full reach. Just girth hitch this leash to your belay loop, clip the carabiners to the hold in your tool's handle, and get after it.

    handy

    Familiarity:I've used it several times

I have used my leash system a few times now....and am very pleased with my purchase. My leash saved me after my feet slipped out on a mixed route....despite that is not what they are designed for...but I did end up hanging from one side of the leash on the tool placed in a crack system. I like knowing my tools will be with me and not at the bottom of the cliff if I accidently drop one.

    Good stretchy leash

Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Using this on a single Camp x-light axe. Use this out in the mountains and cant afford to lose my axe. Wish I had bought the double along with the single now after seeing how nice the single is.

    Look, No Hands!

Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

This is a great leash, or tether. You don't have to hassle with a wrist leash when switching hands, it's super lightweight, and no worry about losing your tools. Nothing I would change about it, it's a great product. Feel free to reach directly out to me with any questions on this or anything mountaineering. tbivins@backcountry.com or (801)204-4657.

    Keep on.. to you axe

Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

There really aren't too many good times to drop an axe or tool. Avoid the situation entirely. Pick up this spring leash and issue avoided. Simple, easy to use and has a quality hand to it. I fully expect this to last many adventures. I had no issues with the leash being too long or too short, whether setting a pick high above my head, pluging my pick while french stepping and general glacier walking.
