Grivel Clepsydra S Carabiner

Add Protect+ Powered by Extend™

Belay And Stay.

The next time you're belaying your climbing buddy, Grivel's Clepsydra S will keep your biner and belay device exactly where they need to be in order for your friend to send. A smaller version of the original, the S is lighter and fit for smaller hands. The Clepsydra has a TwinGate locking system so that you never forget to screw your gate shut before you belay. The independent wire gate holds the belay loop on your harness in place on the biner, so it stays out of your way while you focus on your climber and your technique and also gets rid of the possibility of cross loading your biner if your friend were to whip.

  • A light locking carabiner for belaying safely
  • Independent wire gate for belay loop
  • TwinGate lock so you never forget to screw your gate

Very compact, great for new GriGri

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Perfect connector/carabiner for use with a GriGri, makes for a very compact pairing. This is a T-type (terminal) connector; therefore, don't be surprised by the absence of open gate and minor axis ratings. It is rated at 20kN major axis, not 22kN as stated in the description. It may be awkward to use with some standard tube-style belay devices since the keeper wire could get in the way due to small internal size of the carabiner (see great photo from another reviewer). Unique and functional piece of gear.

Just received this today. The design is brilliant and unique. Planning on using this with the Edelrid Giga Jul belay device when it comes out because I heard it's important to use a biner with a keeper with this type of belay device. My thoughts: 1. The carabiner is suuuper small and compact. Great if you are trying to save weight and think the giant biners normally used are overkill. 2. I was concerned that the loop on a tube style belay device might find it's way into the wired keeper area of the carabiner, but it looks like the carabiner is juuuust tall enough for that not to be an issue. 3. The color the carabiner I received is actually pink, not maroon. Interesting! hahaha. 4. The outside wired gate is much stiffer than I was expecting. Probably 4 times the stiffness of a normal wire gate carabiner. Takes some getting used to. 5. Yes, this absolutely perfect for the grigri. Other than these little quirks, I think the design is super awesome, the small size is fantastic! It's a very unique product sure to turn heads. COOL!

So far I like it.

It was a real toss up between the Clepsydra and Magnetron. I've noticed that some of the Grivel gear runs a little heavier than some of the others. This "S" model is a bit smaller & lighter. Bomb, as expected.
