Not for me
I tried really hard to like this pack, but I just can’t. A lot about it makes it very frustrating to use. I bought this pack for winter mountaineering. If it had a side zipper to access the inside of the pack without having to undo the top lid, I might have been able to like it more. Access to something as essential as an insulated water bottle is extremely difficult. Especially when you have snowshoes strapped on. I am not able to use the hydration reservoir bags because they freeze up too easily nor do I even like using them. I wish companies designing packs would put that into consideration. I also found that the back panel is not ridged enough and gear tends to bulge out the back panel, making the pack uncomfortable to carry. The ice axe and ice tool attachment points I found to be very difficult to work with cold fingers. The old style loop, swing, and hook worked much easier. The hip belt I found to be a fight to get ahold of in windy conditions and many times the strap would get folded over and I’d have to give it another try to get it right. Some features that I like are color, the bungee for quick storage of crampons, and the material. The pack is definitely well assembled and the quality meets what I have come to expect from Gregory. I would love to see Gregory design a pack better suited for winter mountaineering. Offering good carry of snowshoes, crampons, ice axes, easy access to an insulated water bottle, and all the other general features while still being a fairly simple lightweight pack.

I love this bag. It's lightweight and very comfortable. I do wish it had more pockets though. Still, it's my #1 lightweight backpacking/alpine climbing bag

Slam dunk
Well done with the newest edition of the alpinisto, this pack is a major upgrade compared to the last. The largest two changes being shaving nearly 700 grams, and making it orange. I've been a long term alpinisto supporter and jumped right on purchasing this for those reasons. This pack is now competitive in its weight compared to other brands, but keeps many of the functions that are essential to ice, alpine, and ski-mo days. It's now also light enough to be an ultralight bag for fast and light alpine climbing. I almost feel it carries weight better than the last alpinisto due to being a touch flexible and contouring to your back. It's also cheaper than the previous generation, so well done on that too. The functions of the bag are still pretty practical. Good adjustable hip pads/gear clippers, large sized top pouch, fast/easy to use tool/crampon holders, A-frame ski holder, and the extra clip spots at the top are well done. The only thing I'm truely going to miss from the old alpinisto is the side zip access. Lastly, the colour. I love it. It's so obnoxiously bright that you could see it from an airplane. For rescue purposes, I want to be scene, and this adds extra visibility to my back.
