Heading to the top

Perfect size pack for those quick mountain summits. Sleek and light. Bright orange color for long distance sightings.

Pretty good snow pack.

I was looking for a winter top loader pack & this one meets my needs. If I could change anything I would add waist belt pockets and a "stow-it" pocket on the front (instead of or in addition to the bungie cords). It carries very well. Thanks!

Favoritism in dangerous colors

The Alpinisto. First and foremost it’s just fun saying the name.. second this pack ROCKS, it just needs a couple things. Let me better explain what I do and don’t like.. Gregory has won me over once again. Once an Osprey fan-boy, gone underdog whatever-user, I have seen quite a few packs of various qualities. With that said, I can honestly say I have NEVER been disappointed with Gregory. They’ve taken a page from early Ospreys innovation and seamlessly blended it in with their long standing reputation of durability and comfort. And the Alpinisto is yet another example of that. This pack is quite comparable to the Osprey ‘MUTANT’ but it’s better, in my opinion. They use very similar fabrics and skeletal structure, however with the Alpinisto you trade just a little carrying capacity for a slew of convenient exterior features. To name a few; reinforced ski sleeves for A-Frame storage, abrasion guard for ice tool blades and an adjustable bungee net for quick and easy storage! That being said, I’ve repeatedly found something missing on this pack; apart from the lid, there is no external pocket! Wanna stick your GPS somewhere easy to grab, like a waistline pocket? Forget it. Care to pack a snack you want to munch on without having to stop and dig in your pack? Nope, keep on going dude. This fact has its benefits, like not finding a water bottle sleeve packed with snow every time you lay your pack down. However a convenient zipper pocket within reach would’ve been fantastic on the alpine climb last season in Denali. Furthermore, the waist band or hip belt that comes on the pack is a little.. quirky for the lack of a better term. It’s just weird! The belt itself is completely versatile, which can be nice I guess if you decide you don’t want the pads/gear loops or if you want to remove the belt all together.. but even when it’s properly worn, the pads slide freely making for an interesting mid-climb waistline adjustment. Storage wise, this pack comes in two different volumes 28L or 38.. and I selected the smaller as I like to pack fast and light. The internal storage has just enough space for alpine essentials like ‘AVY EQUIPMENT’ and various layers, while still providing enough organizational features for all the Nick-nacks and doo-dads you might need. In the end I can deal with the gripes, because I love this pack with all my heart. Keep on stepping my friends!

Still new to me, but I already know it's perfect.

I got this bag to use mainly as my photo bag whenever I don't need it for overnight use. It's still new to me, but I already love it. It's bright and stands out well in photos. It is the perfect size to carry all my gear and not look either totally empty or stuffed completely full. It's comfortable and made with super durable materials so I know I can abuse it. Everything I have has it's home here and it has plenty of opportunities to tie extra stuff to the outside if I absolutely need it.
