C3 Gore Windstopper Vest

Spring can be quite the illusionist, with glowing sunshine and flowers peeking out from underneath the melting snow, giving you the impression of summer warmth, but icy breezes and frost-bitten shady canyons can give you quite the wake-up call when you're riding without the right layers. Start things out right by taking care of your core with the Gore Wear C3 Gore Windstopper Vest. Utilizing Gore's Windstopper technology, this vest cuts through the frosty breezes to keep your engine primed through strenuous climbs and the chilly descents that follow.

The C3 Gore Windstopper Vest begins its careful construction with a polyester shell that packs in medium thermal protection to keep your core warm when temperatures dip, while the Windstopper membrane prevents the breeze from penetrating and sheds light rain showers. Despite the thermal and windproof properties, the vest still has a knack for keeping breathability a priority, so punchy climbs don't leave you bathing in sweat. The vest is cut a touch looser than other Gore items you might be familiar with, giving just enough room for a thermal jersey and base layer underneath, but not so much space that you'll have excess fabric whipping in the wind behind you. As you'd expect from Gore, the vest is topped off with all of the right details, like drop-in pockets for packing in snacks and a spare tube, and a zippered chest pocket that secures your valuables.

Nice Vest Tru to size

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
XL
Height:
5' 8"
Weight:
180

I have been wearing this in temperatures 50 degrees down to 38 with only a base layer under. I really like it. its true to size. I am 5 foot 8 inches and 180 pounds, could have used a large but ended up purchasing a extra large. Extra large due to purchasing and returning vests from other makers made for midgets. The extra large still fits me well, looser fit for mountain biking and allows room to layer a base layer and fleece under if needed. It keeps you warm enough in the cold, but as temperature gets warmer still comfortable to keep on riding. Good wind shield, have not used it in wet conditions yet.

Couldn't ask for much more in a vest

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
Small
Height:
5' 10"
Weight:
135

Bought this for changeable and windy days in Chicago's fall and early spring (down to freezing) and pair it with the C5 Thermo Jersey. It keeps my core plenty toasty, even when its below freezing and windy. The fit is slightly on the roomier side compared to the C5 Jersey (I'm 5'10" and 135lbs with a tiny waist and shoulder). The two back pockets are deep and roomy and a great complement to a traditional three pocket jersey. The breast pocket is a nice addition, too. My only qualm is that there's no two-way zipper - would be great to be able to unzip from bottom to halfway up to help vent, rather than top-down.
