The Gore Wear C3 Core Windstopper Toe Covers make for the ideal break from the wind and rain, with lightweight coverage that cuts through the wind, while lightly insulating the toe-box of your shoes. These handy covers slide over your cycling shoes, with an open patch for your cleats to connect, giving you total windproof and water-resistant protection for frosty rides. They are constructed with a GoreTex Windstopper membrane that slices through the wind in front of you, while a blend of polyester and elastane wrap around your feet to add just enough thermal protection to keep you going on chilly spring mornings before the frost melts.

Not insulated, feel like paper

Maybe the definition of insulation has changed- but imo these can in no stretch of the imagination be given that title. I have a lot of great Gore products, but they don't belong in the shoe/toe cover business. They're paper thin, and feel like they will rip just from taking them on and off. Find a good neoprene pair like the Assos model, and you'll be both insulated and durable.

They are a lot thinner than my old pair by Descente, but they work. They cleat opening is reinforced. The toe cap already has some small holes from unclipping at stop signs/lights. I'm going to have remember to plant my feet down flat.

Works but wears out fast

For such a thin material, it's surprising how well they work. There's really no insulation value, but in blocking the wind they really do go some distance to keeping your toes warm on cool days. For well-ventilated shoes, consider taping over air vents in the soles to really help them work. That said, I've worn these out after a couple of seasons. The underside isn't reinforced at all, and clipping in causes enough wear that holes have formed. I'd consider the Castelli Toe Thingies, which are both reinforced and much warmer.

keep those feet warm
