Get Your Dose of Weatherproof Protection.
While the Gore Bike Wear Universal 2.0 Gore-Tex Helmet Cover may hold a striking resemblance to those chic, yet delightfully impractical berets, the Helmet Cover touts a slightly more pragmatic design. Offering maximum protection (unlike its wooly counterpart), this cover is endowed with a Gore-Tex membrane for equal parts waterproof and windproof protection and unencumbered breathability. The elastic hem promotes a snug seal, while the reflective print is designed to enhance your overall visibility in low-light conditions.

I got this for a Salt to Saint, which is a bike relay we do every year. The last year we did it, it was forecasted to rain the entire time. This did the trick of keeping my head warm and dry.
Essential in the rain
If you are really going to ride in the rain because you have to (commuter) or otherwise ride/train in the rain, then you NEED a helmet cover. This is a great one.
Most of all, a helmet cover prevents rain from soaking your head. Of course.
A helmet cover also 'closes' the vents in your helmet, improving aerodynamics and providing thermal protection in cold and DRY conditions. Of course add a thermal cap underneath if it's really cold out (sub 45/50°).
Third, and why this cover is better than most (all?) others, is that Gore-tex *breathes* while being rain-proof; thus lowering the build up of sweat under your helmet. Important in cold weather.
Lastly, there is Gore's high quality of manufacture. The materials, sewing, and QC really are impressive.
***And be safe riding out there in inclement weather with autos on wet roads. Buy the high-viz yellow cover.
Will Gore Helmet Cover fit over a size Medium POC Octal Helmet?
