Simply Warm.

Gore Bike Wear gave the Power Trail WS SO Thermo Jacket top-shelf materials and a relatively simple design to extend your riding season well into winter. Long after your buddies have hung up their bikes for the season, The Power Trail Thermo's fleece-lined Windstopper main body fabric will have you comfortably cranking out the miles. The jacket's anatomic cut is designed to drape comfortably on the bike and off, so you can wear the Power Trail jacket during your ride back home.

Due to the effectiveness of the WindStopper membrane, Gore has included a strategically placed two front ventilation zippers with integrated zippered pockets in order to give you the ability to moderate your temperature. Perhaps the only details that give the Power Trail jacket away as a cycling piece are the two zippered pockets on the back. There's also a zippered Napoleon pocket on the left breast and small cloth for cleaning your eyewear. The tail is cut a tad longer in order to accommodate your position on the bike, and the lower hem and sleeve cuffs are bound with a wear-resistant elastic band. Reflective elements on the shoulders, back, and forearms will also increase your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions.

  • Gore's Windstopper fabric keeps you dry on the trails
  • Ergonomically shaped, fleece-trimmed collar for warmth
  • Concealed front zip regulates temps
  • Media pocket with cable outlet and cable guidance at collar
  • Wear-resistant elastic binding on sleeve hem keeps drafts out
  • Gripper elastic on bottom hem prevents jacket from riding up
  • Reflective logo and piping on back
  • Item #GBW00AE

Stops wind and warm

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium
  • Height: 5'11"
  • Weight: 157lbs

Nice jacket. The yellow is really visible, and makes a good commuter jacket. Stops wind, and I really like that the front and back pockets are easily accessible and all have zippers. Also super cool is the front chest pocket. It does stop wind well and is great for cool days (though you might want to add a base layer if below 45 degrees). The fit is true to size, and with a medium I can still fit a few base layers underneath.

Any downsides? well it came out of the wrapper with some sort of DWR coating, because it did bead some water. But after the first few washings, that disappeared. If you get caught in a mildly sustained rain, you will get wet. Thankfully, most of the moisture is absorbed into the surface of the garment, and the layer of fleece acts to wick moisture away towards the surface. The Windstopper property will keep the chill from the wet garment in a wind from freezing you, so thats a nice upside to the fabric.

The only other advice I wold have is not to get a light / neon color unless you are willing to hand wash out any spots. For some reason, any dirt spots will not wash out in a machine wash. After a machine wash, I had to go back and hand scrub some soil stains from my sleeves.

That said, this is still a great garment, and very versatile at helping you regulate temperature in a cold environment at varying levels of exercise effort.

High quality soft shell jacket

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large
  • Height: 6'5"
  • Weight: 175lbs

I purchased this jacket to fill the need for a jacket that kept me warm on training rides between 28 and 17 degrees, had great wind protection and a slim/tailored fit. This Gore jacket checked all those boxes plus has a high level of craftsmanship that I should expect from Gore.

I'm 6'4" and 175lbs. I purchased a size Large. The fit is slim but not race fit. I still have room to layer a thermal and base layer with no problem.

Only minor complaint is I wish it had pit-zips or some type of arm ventilation.

Still, I would highly recommend this jacket.

Awesome winter jacket!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium
  • Height: 5'9"
  • Weight: 168lbs

I use this jacket for riding through the winter. I ordered a size Medium which fits well. Not too tight but also not too loose. Sleeve length is perfect.

Great cold weather jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I just got this jacket and wore it on my bike ride into work. I live in WI and on this November morning it was mid-30s with a slight drizzle and windy. This jacket did an amazing job of keeping me warm and dry and also blocking the wind. I had just a t-shirt and a light long sleeve pullover under the jacket and about half way on the ride I actually started to get a little hot!

I am 6'6 at 215 lbs and got a size XXL. I usually get XL for everything else (t-shirts, jackets, shirts, etc), but decided to go a size up so I can wear other base layers under the jacket in real cold temps. I am definitely glad I got the XXL because I am not sure if I would be able to wear base layers without jacket feeling tight.

I will definitely be using this jacket a lot in the fall/spring on colder days either on my work commutes or when I am on the trails with my mountain bike. I also love all the pockets it has. Can definitely wear the jacket when not biking as it's fashionable and looks like any other jacket. After my first use, I am real happy with this purchase and would greatly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice, warm jacket to wear while biking when the temps start dropping.

Great All-Rounder

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Not much to dislike about this soft shell; warm, comfortable, breathable, and versatile. The fleece lining on the inside and Gore-Tex Windstopper membrane make this a piece that could be worn into the low 40’s or high 30’s with a base layer or two under. No problem if you overheat, the breathable material is also complimented by three zip pockets that will help vent the extra heat. The open pockets on the back are angled at 45 degrees making them very accessible when on the bike. Like the pockets on the back, the front zip pockets are placed higher than most jackets resting more on your core instead of waist (maybe 4-5 inches above the bottom). This is nice because it will help prevent items from bouncing around as much as they sit higher out of your way. The waistline has grippers on the inside for keeping the jacket in place when ripping. If there was one thing I could change about the jacket, it is having bigger zippers for better accessibility, but they do a good job of going unnoticed. I really liked the fit of the jacket, the medium was perfect. It is relaxed and flexible with room for 2 or 3 thin base layers. For someone with more of an “American fit” with a few extra pounds, this would be a nice option. You can wear this off the bike no problem, it is very comfortable and versatile. It’s suitable for the xc crowd, work commuters (reflective elements too), and even recreational road rider.
