Armor for the journey.
Though we may not have as many overall clothing options available to us as male cyclists, one area where we do enjoy dominance in variety is inseam length. Women's shorts across virtually all manufacturers' lines run from near-Daisy Duke length to just above the knee, so there's an inseam for all tastes. For those of us who prefer the coverage and compression benefits of longer shorts, Gore Bike Wear offers its Power Quest Shorts.
The Power Quest Shorts are made from a durable, stretchy synthetic blend and boast an impressive inseam of 9 inches (23 centimeters). The outseam also does its part to help the shorts stand out; it's shifted to avoid chafing. Gripper elastics in the hems keep the shorts and insert in place, and reflective highlights help keep you visible to motorists in low-light situations.
For the insert, Gore partnered with Cy-Tech's Elastic Interface division to develop a line of multi-density foam inserts for different body types and ride demands. The entire Power line has the women's three hour insert, and these shorts are no exception, making them just right for long, form-building rides.
The Gore Bike Wear Power Quest Shorts - Women's are available in six sizes ranging from X-Small to XX-Large in the color Black.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: Runs large
- Size Bought: Small
Since I prefer long shorts, the quest shorts caught my attention. I'm short and the inseam length was just above the knee. They're extremely comfortable...even after a couple of hours in the saddle. I was also impressed with the fit and comfort of the padding. Initially and based on the size chart I was a M. This size was too large. So I exchanged for a S. They fit but I'm wondering if I could actually do an XS for more compression. My other shorts in a different brand have more compression. Otherwise the Quest Shorts is a good buy.
