Kill the chill.
Stay pleasantly warm and dry in blustery to drizzly conditions with the Gore Bike Wear Men's Element WindStopper Active Shell Zip-Off Jacket. Armed with Gore's WindStopper Active Shell membrane, this jacket blocks the strongest gusts from permeating through and chilling your core. Plus, it repels light moisture, beading off passing showers and light precipitation from soaking through and ruining your ride. Adding more versatility to this inclement-weather specialist, the jacket's zip-off sleeves transform it into a lightweight vest at a moment's notice. This is especially useful when you're riding through widely fluctuating temperatures and quickly changing conditions.
Other function-driven features include pre-shaped elbows, as well as an ergonomic collar to reduce chafing and irritation on longer rides. Its zippered chest and rear pockets hold everyday items, such as your smartphone, cycling tools, and energy gels. Moreover, you'll find an adjustable hem cinch, as well as hook-and-loop cuffs for a dialed fit.

Gore had the wrong kind of biker in mind
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Medium
- Height: 5'10"
- Weight: 165lbs
Based on Gore's reputation and video for this product, I was pretty pumped when the UPS guy dropped it off. Sadly, within 15min the jacket was packed up for return.
The material is nice, and the fit (contrary to what one reviewer wrote) is true to size. Remember: this is a jacket for cycling, so it's going to be a close fit. Look at Gore's website for a product video if you want to see how this thing fits. They show a model wearing it, and give you his sizing info so you can gauge what you'd need.
The issue is simply this: the thing looked ridiculous on me. Because of the convertible nature of the jacket, with the sleeves zipped on the seams at the shoulders form rigid, sharp angles that make it look like you're wearing a lightly padded motorcycle jacket. Really bad stuff.
Definitely would not recommend this one.
One jacket Multiple uses!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
his is my favorite Gore Bike Wear jacket because of its versatility, longevity, fit, and design. I have had this jacket for a year and it still looks and feels like it did when I first put it on. The Windstopper technology will keep you fresh and comfortable, keeping the wind from pounding your body. Though not waterproof, the water resistancy will keep you dry in most wet conditions. A front, chest pocket and a back, large zip pocket will store a large of amount of goodies for your ride. As part of Gore's Element line, this recreational piece has a bit more of a comfort fit, though by no means is it baggy. For someone who is tall and thin, this jacket fits great since it is longer on the torso, but not wide on the chest and hips. The simple design is appealing for those who like to wear their jacket off the bike as well. The zip-off sleeves make it perfect for just about any weather condition!
