The Gore Bike Wear Element Gore-Tex Pants are our choice for the do-it-all award of cold-weather cycling versatility. You can wear them over shorts, tights, or just a base layer for a chamois-free setup that accommodates cross training. They're also comfortable on their own for running errands on the bike. Whatever the case, the Element Pants provide the elemental protection that you'd expect from the venerable manufacturer in a fit that recommends them for almost any conceivable cold-weather cycling outing.
The key ingredient in these overpants is the Gore-Tex Active fabric, a 2.5-layer material that blocks external moisture while expelling internal moisture due to its excellent breathability. The Gore-Tex layer at the fabric's heart is mated to a soft lining for a comfortable touch to the skin or a gentle wear on base layers.
The seat is reinforced to prevent wear and increase water resistance, so you can leave the plastic bag off your saddle while it's locked up outside. The pants' slack fit doesn't mean Gore has ignored the fine details of construction, though — the knees are pre-shaped to accommodate the posture and motions associated with cycling. The waistband and cuffs are adjustable to create barrier against the creeping elements and hook-and-loop fastening straps keep the pant leg out of your chain. One zippered rear pocket lets you stow personal effects with confidence. Reflective elements on the front, sides, and rear help keep you visible in low-light conditions.
The Women's Gore Bike Wear Element Gore-Tex AS Pants are available in six sizes ranging from X-Small to XX-Large in the colors Black and Black/neon yellow.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs large
These pants were huge. I am 5'5", 133 lbs. Sizing said to order a medium or large. I got a medium, but they were so big I could barely pull them tight enough to stay up. Also, I wanted to use them for winter commuting and put them over warm bike tights, but the legs are really wide. If you want them to go over ski pants, the width would be good.
