Conquer in comfort.
Gore Bike Wear's Alp-X Shorts combine a mountain bike-oriented cut with no-nonsense degree of styling. And with a WindStopper membrane, you'll find them ready for anything that Mother Nature has to offer.
Gore used a proprietary blend of nylon and elastane for the construction of the Alp-X Shorts. This material was chosen for its mixture of breathability and controlled stretch. By transporting moisture from the skin to the surface of the fabric, the Alp-X shorts take advantage of evaporative cooling in order keep you dry and comfortable. In case you're not familiar with 'evaporative cooling,' as your sweat is transported to the surface of the fabric, it turns to vapor, which causes the temperature of the air next to your skin to drop. In turn, the process keeps both the shorts and your skin cool and dry. A highly breathable and 100% windproof Gore WindStopper membrane has also been incorporated in order to provide extra protection from gusts of wind and spray from your tires. And the areas that contact your saddle, like the inner-thighs and seat panel, have also been strengthened with wear-resistant fabrics.
The Alp-X shorts use elastic in the waistband to conform to your midsection without binding, even as you readjust your position in the saddle. Gore employs flatlock stitching throughout to eliminate chafing and to keep the shorts sliding smoothly over your favorite liner short. And when you work up a sweat, you're able to dump heat on-the-fly with two adjustable, zippered mesh vents on the thighs. Gore also included reflective accents on the shorts to increase your visibility to motorists in low-light situations.
The Alp-X Shorts are available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the colors Kiwi/black and Black.

- Q & A
Nice Shorts.!! I got it at 75% off.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: Runs small
- Size Bought: Large
- Height: 5'9"
- Weight: 159lbs
I usually wear 32 inch M size.
But yellow color left only L size. I got L size. It fits well.
It's slightly big, not very big. Size runs 0.5 inch small I think.
Nice zip pocket and zip wind hole.
nice shorts, if you can afford them
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs small
These are great shorts and I agree with the previous review about the shorts being slim fitting and not ghetto baggy...but they are WAY small. You have to size up, which them throws the length all askew and you end up with Capri's. I wish these fit me better, because them I might finally be able to stop looking for the perfect short.
Oh yeah, they don't come with a padded liner, $150 retail for a short with no liner, really?
Great Product: Fashion meets Function
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: Runs small
I think this is a great product. It is a great combination of fashion and function. A lot of the current trail shorts fit very baggy and are made of heavy material. These are slim and effective as well as comfortable and have enough style to swing by the bar for a beer post ride. If you truly RIDE both UP and Down these are a great short.

Do these shorts come with a liner or not?...
Do these shorts come with a liner or not? The specs say no, but the description makes it sound like it does.
I looked on the Gore site; they show these with the little (+) sign, which always means the item comes with some sort of chamois/liner, and these do have the liner on the Gore site. In fact, that's the only version of these shown. Their list price is $179. which is another way to identify. They say it comes with a removable pants liner with pad. Gore usually offers both options, so the description here reads "available", then these must not have the liner...you would have to purchase it separately. Hope this Helps.
These might be a older version.
Hi, the Gore Bike Wear Alp-X Plus Shorts are listed separately on Backcountry. Here's a link:
Same shell, but they cost a bit more and include a very good-quality liner short.
